October 14, around a hundred Falun Dafa practitioners from Toronto, Waterloo, Michigan, and local areas around Windsor cheerfully gathered together to celebrate the Falun Dafa Week of Windsor, Canada.
Colorful balloons created a festive atmosphere on the banks of the clear Detroit River, and the exhibition "Pictorial Retrospective of Falun Dafa" located along the riverbank attracted many passers-by; they expressed their deep incomprehension of the brutal crackdown by the Chinese government. At noon, the celebration started with the peaceful and serene music of our practice; practitioners demonstrated the five sets of exercises as always. The serene and harmonious practice immediately changed the look of the park, even the on-site photographer from CBS felt touched: "This is all so beautiful." Afterwards, during the half-hour celebration ceremony, practitioners read the press release, recited the proclamation from the city of Windsor, and reviewed the congratulatory letter from the Governor General of Canada to Falun Dafa Week of Canada. Professor Crowley from the Windsor branch of Amnesty International made a special effort to attend the ceremony. He congratulated us on Falun Dafa Week, and expressed his deep concern for the Falun Dafa practitioners in China and their human rights situation.
At 1:30 in the afternoon, the parade started on the busiest street in downtown escorted by the local police. Colored balloons held by children filled the street, while practitioners held a giant Falun emblem and banners that read "Falun Dafa" and "Please Release the Jailed Falun Dafa Practitioners in China." Pedestrians stopped to watch the joyous, yet solemn parade. Many requested more information from practitioners, and cars stopped to ask for the Falun Dafa newspapers. At the end of the parade, the escorting police also asked practitioners about Falun Dafa.
After the parade, practitioners went to a park and shared personal experiences. We have all realized that during this special cultivation period of the cosmic Fa-rectification, we have been doing far too little. Every opportunity to step forward to spread and safeguard the Fa is exactly what our compassionate Teacher has given us for our improvement. We have already obtained Dafa, but there are still so many people lost in the ills of society. This Falun Dafa Week has inspired us to further promote Dafa and clarify the truth to even more people.
