Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your letter was totally shocking. Regretfully, I must say that you do not truly understand the situation. Your claim that the practice of Falun Gong has destroyed people's minds and bodies has no basis in fact. Meanwhile, your government has for no good reason decided to imprison, torture, and even kill some of its finest and most outstanding citizens.
Please allow me to express my personal view, based on my own experiences.
Shortly after I started reading the book, "Zhuan Falun," I realized that the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance," taught by Mr. Li Hongzhi, can bring nothing but benefits to everyone, including myself. Falun Gong can help keep people fit and also improve their moral standards. I think these effects of Falun Gong are known and understood by most of the Chinese people. For the whole nation of China, Falun Gong has rendered a hundred benefits while doing no harm.
In 1999, books such as "Zhuan Falun" and "Falun Gong" were banned, and Falun Gong practitioners in China have since been enduring a great persecution. Out of their great sense of responsibility as citizens, however, they have been telling the world the truth about Falun Gong by relating their own experiences. During the past 16 months, more and more practitioners in China have stepped forward in order to call the world's attention to this brutal suppression. Out of their great forbearance, they risked their careers, their families, and even their lives with no fear. I declare with a righteous heart that I am proud of them.
Falun Gong practitioners in China take their self-interests lightly and follow the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" in their daily lives. The persecution of these gentle people has not only shocked average Chinese citizens, it has also revealed the decline of our country's moral standards. Take heed: the persecution of benevolent people will bring huge and unthinkable disasters down upon the nation!
There is one point I want to emphasize herethat none of the Falun Gong practitioners, whether inside or outside of China, are against the Chinese government.
Together with my fellow practitioners, I invite everyone who has readily believed the government's propaganda to read the book "Zhuan Falun." You will soon discover that "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" should not be suppressed. On the contrary, it should be promoted with great efforts. In addition, we demand that China stop persecuting Falun Gong, release all detained practitioners, and restore the good reputation of Mr. Li Hongzhi.
