[Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Practitioner Ms. Shi beaten to death

Ms. Shi (whose first name is unknown due to the information blockade imposed by the Chinese authorities) was only 21 years old and from the town of Duo, Mengyin County, Shandong Province. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong this February around the Chinese New Year, where she was arrested and sent back to her hometown. Upon her return, she was in the middle of her menstrual period, but the local police still brutally beat her. She lost consciousness several times during the beating, and each time the police threw cold water on her to wake her up and continued the beating. She passed away on February 19th (or January 15th by the Chinese calendar, a major Chinese holiday). Under heavy pressure from the county government, on top of being paid a large sum of money, her father Shi Zengshan fabricated stories saying that she died from a serious illness after refusing medical intervention because she practiced Falun Gong. He even participated in two "intensive transformation" classes held by the county government to provide "first-hand" testimony and spread the lies in public.

Mr. Yang Zhenfang, the former head of the Mengyin Assistance Center, along with two other local practitioners, Wang Yong and Gong Pijian, went to Beijing around the Chinese New Year to appeal for Falun Gong as well. They were arrested and sent back to Mengyin. After being detained at the local detention center for more than a month, all three were sentenced to serve time at the Zibe City Wangcun Labor Camp. The sentences handed down were two years for Yang, one year for Wang and three years for Gong. At the end of May, the vice general secretary of Shandong Province Communist Party Wu Aiying personally went to the labor camp to hold an investigation on Falun Gong. He annulled the sentences of four practitioners being held there, including Gong Pijian. However, the other two Mengyin practitioners Yang Zhenfang and Wang Yong are still being held at the labor camp. After being released from the labor camp, Gong was arrested again when he went to Shanghai to meet with fellow practitioners, and he is currently being held at the county detention center.

[Shandong Province] Shandong practitioners going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong automatically fired from their jobs

The Shandong provincial government has sent the following order to all local districts: practitioners who go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong are to be automatically detained in the local detention centers and immediately fired from their jobs. According to reliable sources, the cities of Zhaoyuan and Longkou have sent police with several big buses to bring back local practitioners from Beijing.

[Zhaoyuan County, Shandong Province] Kind-hearted old ladies arrested on the way to Beijing as tourists

On October 26th, four elderly villagers from the township of Zhangxin, Wang Xuemei (79), Du Peixiang (62), Zhao Yulan (78), and Ge Yulan (69), were on there way to Beijing to visit some relatives and do some sightseeing. On the way there, the police stopped the bus that they were on. The police asked every single person to curse Mr. Li Hongzhi, and if anyone refuses, he or she would not be allowed to continue the trip. The four kind-hearted old ladies said that they had no idea who Mr. Li Hongzhi was, and they had lived some seven or eight decades without ever cursing anyone. They refused to comply with the police's request and asked how the police could ask people to curse. Just because they refused to say the bad words, the four old ladies were taken off the bus and sent to the Zhangxin Detention Center.

Similar reports have surfaced many times in virtually all areas of China. Anyone who refuses to say a few bad words against Mr. Li Hongzhi is not allowed to continue with his or her travelling plans, and sometimes even beaten and arrested. In a country like China that has long been called "a nation of good manners," what are the "people's police" doing when they force people to curse in public? How much longer can Jiang Zemin continue to treat the people as if they were animals and persecute "Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance?"

[Zhaoyuan County, Shandong Province] The police at the town of Zhangxin continue to viciously persecute Falun Gong practitioners

The police from the town of Zhangxin beat practitioner Zhao Jinhua to death last October. More than a year later, they not only have shown no remorse for killing an innocent woman, but instead they have continued with their bad deeds. They have either set up private prisons to detain practitioners for long periods of time illegally, or they have forced practitioners to repeatedly serve short-term detentions at the Zhangxin Detention center. They have also broken into and ransacked the homes of practitioners without proper search warrants many times.

On the afternoon of October 26th around 2pm, practitioner Wang Haohong was at home with her sister Wang Fenglan. Three policemen from the Zhangxin Police Department knocked on the door, and broke the door down before she had a chance to put on her slippers and open the door. The policemen forced their way into each room of the house to conduct a search, and then they took the two sisters back to the police station with them. The two sisters knew that the police had brought many practitioners to the police station under false pretense and then detained them there indefinitely, so they refused to go with them. The three policemen called Zhang Hai, the chief counselor at the police station, and he told them to forcefully remove the two sisters from their home. A short while later, Zhang Hai brought two more policemen and forced the two sisters into the police car. He then led the police to the home of Qu Hongxia, a practitioner at the Xiaoliugia Village, where he found the front door locked. They failed to force open the lock, so they jumped over the wall around her home to bypass the main door. They then broke down the inner door without knocking. The police put Qu in the police car and drove all three practitioners to the police station, where the three women are being held there to this day. When their families went to ask the police how they could arrest the three women for no reason, they replied, "It is the order from the higher-ups. You can go anywhere you like to impeach us, but you will get nowhere!"

[Changchun City] Labor camp takes away practitioners' visitation rights

Last month, the Fengjian Labor Camp in the city of Changchun suddenly told the families of Falun Gong practitioners being held there that they were no longer allowed to visit their loved ones every Friday. More than a month has since passed, and no one has been able to visit the practitioners being held there. The families fear that the authorities have done bad things to these practitioners, things that they do not want the outside to know. Being in the northeastern part of the country, November is already a bitterly cold time in Changchun. Many family members are asking the authorities to let them visit their loved ones, or at least allow warm winter clothes to be brought to them.

[Liulihe City, Helongjiang Province] Practitioner sent to the labor camps for making a public donation

Liu Ruiyuan is a 60-year-old retiree in Liulihe City, Helongjiang Province. After he started practicing Falun Gong, his health improved greatly. He also felt that he should be less selfish and wanted to make a contribution to his country, so he went to the local Citizen Governing Board to donate 5,000 Yuan (equivalent to the six-month salary of an average person). The worker at the Governing Board asked him, "You are pretty old now. Why don't you keep the money in case there is an emergency?" He replied, "I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I am totally healthy and have no illnesses whatsoever. I want to make a small contribution to my country by donating the money." Because he openly said he was a Falun Gong practitioner, he has been sentenced to three years at the Jiamusi Labor Camp, where he suffers from ill treatment alongside many other practitioners.

[Liaoning Province] The first-hand experience of a practitioner at the Masanjia Labor Camp

The Masanjia Labor Camp officials use a variety of inhumane methods to force practitioners to give up Falun Gong. Because of their "good work," many of them have been honored with titles such as "Heroic Model Worker," the 2nd level outstanding contributor award (a very high honor, as the 1st level is usually reserved for those who die in the line of fire), or given large pay raises.

As soon as he or she steps into the labor camp, each practitioner is asked, "Are you willing to transform yourself (i.e. are you willing to give up practicing Falun Gong)?" Anyone who said no is forced to stand on his head with their back to the wall and hands off the ground. The labor camp officials called the pose "lifting-up." The next thing is to allow the practitioner no sleep at all, and what follows is usually electric shock. The practitioner is tied up and repeatedly shocked with electric batons. The camp officials especially like to use the electric batons on the breasts and private areas of the female practitioners. The painful cries of the practitioners can be heard everywhere.

The camp officials also force practitioners to drink dirty water from an old well that had been abandoned. The water is the still water that had been sitting on the bottom of the well for several years. When it was first brought up, it was filled with foul-smelling small bubbles. Practitioners all showed symptoms of being poisoned after they were forced to drink the water.

The practitioners repeatedly ask the authorities to hold a proper investigation of these vicious labor camp officials, yet the labor officials remain unpunished. Instead, they continue to use all methods imaginable to torture the practitioners, and are awarded for the high "transformation" rate at the labor camp.

[Jiamusi, Helongjiang Province] More and more local practitioners step forward to validate the Dafa

After reading the new articles by Master Li, "Serious Teaching", along with other material on Minghui, and holding group discussions, more and more practitioners in the city of Jiamusi came to the realization that they needed to step forward to actively participate in the Fa-rectification process. Now a large number of practitioners have gone to Beijing to validate the Dafa, including many who had been content to stay at home before. The number of practitioners going to Beijing is increasing.

[Mainland] The evil forces attempt to brainwash practitioners in high-tech fields

According to reliable sources, evil forces are preparing to systematically "transform" practitioners in high-tech fields. They are concentrating on the Chinese Aerospace Ministry and Qinghua University first. They brought "experienced experts" from the Masajia Labor Camp to the Aerospace Ministry to brainwash the practitioners there. In addition, two groups of practitioners were sent to the Masajia Labor Camp to "study." They are now staying at motels near the labor camp and forced to attend the "re-education" session everyday starting from 7 o'clock in the morning to mid-night or 2 o'clock in the morning of the next day. Even though they are not being physically beaten, they are constantly threatened with losing everything they have. The guards have even declared one practitioner a "mental case" and sent him to the mental hospital.

[Jiamusi, Helongjiang Province] The authorities send more than 250 practitioners to labor camps

During the past year, the practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong have experienced all kinds of abuse and persecution. Just in the city of Jiamusi, more than 250 practitioners (36 male and more than 210 female) have been sentenced to labor camps with terms ranging from one year to three years.

While serving time in the labor camps, some practitioners were repeatedly beaten, kicked and electrocuted with electric batons by the labor camp officials. Some had their clothes stripped off and splashed with cold water in the middle of the winter, when the temperature fell below --20 degree C (or --4 degrees F). Some were hung upside down with their arms tied to the back (called "flying an airplane)." Fellow inmates viciously beat some practitioners with things such as a wooden bed board. One practitioner, in his 60's, was beaten so severely that he started to vomit blood. Even when they got a break from work, the practitioners were sometimes forced by the fellow inmates to sit on the concrete floor completely naked for more than 10 hours. There were only two meals a day, one at 6 o'clock in the morning and one at 6 o'clock in the evening. The food was just cornbread and clear water with a little salt.

The guards often conducted body searches on practitioners and ransacked their personal belongings, looking for Falun Gong material. Despite being law-enforcement officials, they have completely disregarded the laws. They frequently opened private letters of practitioners and seized letters that practitioners wrote to make appeals for themselves and for the Dafa. They were especially vicious to the female practitioners, who were often individually locked into small damp rooms. Often they suffered infections and terrible itches all over. Each person was only given a small basin of water per day. The labor camp officials often gathered the practitioners to hold marathon interrogation sessions and attempted to brainwash them into giving up falun Gong. They also took away the visitation rights of the practitioners at will; one practitioner has not seen her family for more than seven months. The labor camp officials have committed too many crimes to be listed here.

A new "transformation platoon" was started on October 19th to hold all the male practitioners. They are being forced to endure brainwashing sessions and have no personal freedom whatsoever. In spite of this, we will continue to use the Fa as our teacher, and turn in a satisfactory test result to our respected teacher. We also ask the kind-hearted people everywhere to help us.

[Jiamusi, Helongjiang Province] The truth of the Dongfeng police station persecuting Falun Gong practitioners

On the evening of September 27th, Chen Yongde, the head of the Dongfeng Police Station, and police officer Sun Shulong ransacked the homes of many local practitioners. They found Falun Gong books, exercise music tapes, and Master Li's lecture tapes in the home of one female practitioner. Afterwards, they took that female practitioner along with two male practitioners who happened to be there to the Nanwei Police Station. They had to endure long interrogation sessions and were not released until around midnight.

On the morning of September 29th around 9AM, police officer Sun Shulong took the above-mentioned female practitioner from her workplace to the Nanwei Police Station. He claimed that the captain wanted to talk to her in order to understand Falun Gong. In reality, she was detained in the police station for more than 28 hours, and she did not even see the captain when she was finally released around 2pm the next day. She had to spend the night being locked in the same room with a female inmate and two other male police officers.

A police officer from the Nanwei Police Station with the surname of Lin went to the homes of many practitioners to harass them. During the October 1st (Chinese National Day) period, he frequently forced his way into the homes of many practitioners and rummaged through their belongs. Some of the family members of the practitioners were extremely frightened, including one who had a history of mental problems.

A young practitioner was arrested and detained for a period of time when he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After his release, the local police station frequently sent officers to harass him and ransack his home looking for Falun Gong material, audio tapes, videotapes, and even his own personal diary.

On September 27th, the police again ransacked his home and found Falun Gong material printed off the Internet. Fortunately, he happened to be not home that day. On September 30th, the Jianan Police Station captain Zhang Xueming took a few policemen back to the practitioner's home. They ransacked his home again and forced him to go to the police station with them around 9pm. When they asked him where the Falun Gong material came from, the practitioner said that he had no idea, and that someone put it in front of his door. The captain did not believe him, and a police officer hit, kicked and slapped him a few times. He still said nothing. The police left. However, the practitioner was left handcuffed to a piece of indoor piping and was not released until 8am the next day. Because of repeated harassment from the police, his workplace was forced to fire him. Meanwhile, his mother is a retiree from a company that is on the verge of bankruptcy, and they could not pay her pension on time. Currently, the mother and the son have no sources of income.

[Beijing] A Chinese "democratic" party reports a practitioner to the authorities

The 9-3 Scholar Society is one of the nine political parties outside of the Communist Party that are officially recognized by the Chinese government. In theory at least, it is a "democratic" party, independent from the Communist Party, yet two of its leaders have actively participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.

Zhou Shuwu was born on April of 1937. He is currently the vice-chairman of the 9-3 Scholar Society's Beijing Chapter. He used to be an editor at the Business Affairs Publishing Company. His work phone number is 65528905.

Chen Mingpu was born on March of 1954. She is an official at the Beijing Chapter of the 9-3 Scholar Society. Her work phone number is 65528904.

A practitioner who happens to be a member of the 9-3 Scholar Society had a private conversation with Chen to tell her the truth about Falun Gong. How could the practitioner know that afterwards Chen would immediately report the conversation to Zhou, and Zhou would immediately write a letter to the Dongcheng District Police Station to turn him in? The practitioner was arrested by the police at his home the very next evening (September 30th). He suffered a great deal while being detained at the local detention center and was not released until a month later in the evening of October 30th.

[Dalian City] The names of a few evil Dalian police

Zhang Lisong works in the Politics and Economics Division of the Dalian Police Department and often beats practitioners. His phone number is 0411-3634403,3793722,2637137 extension 2144.

Song Yucheng, Chen Qin and Li Guoqing work in the 1st Division of the Dalian Police Department. Their phone number is 0411-2658314,3792176. They have a special hatred of the Dafa and its practitioners and have sent many practitioners to labor camps.
