On September 29, nearly 40 Falun Gong practitioners from Washington DC appealed in front of the Chinese Embassy from 2:00 to 5:30 pm. They called upon more Chinese government officials to help stop Jiang Zemin's brutal persecution of Falun Gong. The practitioners displayed several banners. Practitioners recited the Teacher's most recent writings and articles from the Minghui website. Practitioners then did the exercises together; many pedestrians passed by at that time and drivers honked their horns to show their support.

On the morning of September 30, over 100 Falun Gong practitioners from Washington DC, Philadelphia, Delaware, Pittsburgh and West Virginia attended the Chinese Culture Festival on the lawn in front of the White House. This was to promote Dafa and clarify the truth of Falun Gong -- the essence of Qigong which itself is the essence of the Chinese culture. The practitioners set up two tents and hung two articles of the Teacher "Be in Harmony with Dafa" and "Assimilation." They displayed several large banners and dozens of exhibition posters decorated with yellow balloons that were very pleasing to the eye. People attending the festival came over to take a look; some inquired about Falun Gong and some learned the movements. With the exercise music playing, nearly 60 practitioners stood in neat lines demonstrating the exercises repeatedly. The entire activity lasted from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm. The practitioners held a candlelight vigil from 7 pm to 9:30 pm. Everyone thought that practitioners outside and inside China were linked together and we should share the same fate and breathe the same air, mutually "assisting the Teacher in the human world."

At 9 am on October 1, after hearing the Chinese Government had arrested over one thousand Falun Gong practitioners on Tiananmen Square, several dozen Falun Gong practitioners from Washington DC went to the Chinese Embassy to peacefully appeal. They called upon the Chinese government to immediately stop further persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and release all the detained practitioners. They set up several large banners and dozens of exhibition posters. Some practitioners brought their TV sets and played a videotape of the arrests of Falun Gong practitioners in Tiananmen Square for the public.
Practitioners are watching closely the developing situations in Beijing. (Reported on October 1, 2000)
