Since October 1, many Dafa practitioners in Washington DC have gone to the streets to distribute newsletters, exposing the vicious deeds done to Falun Gong practitioners in Tiananmen on October 1. DC practitioners went out to the subways, government institutes, tourist sites, as well as to the Chinese embassy to tell the truth and appeal to kind-hearted people for their concern and help.
The actions of the practitioners drew widespread support. In fact, many people inquired about what they could do to help, and some even asked if they could help practitioners distribute materials. Some employees from government institutes left their names and contact information so that practitioners could ask them for further assistance. One regret that the practitioners had was that that they had not brought a form for signatures. Many pedestrians had expressed their support at once but there was no form to sign.
Practitioners often heard encouragement from passersby. One pedestrian received the material, walked several steps, and then returned, saying, "There is always a trial of strength between the righteous and the evil in history, and the last victory must belong to you."
One practitioner, his wife, and their one-year-old child distributed the report about the Falun Gong practitioners arrested in Tiananmen near government institutes and the subway. They made 10,000 copies of their materials and distributed 7,000 copies on just one day (Sunday, October 1). They said, "A good time to distribute materials is around noon on weekdays, when people take a rest and have lunch. We have also had a good response giving information to motorists." This practitioner said that a lot of people got to know Falun Gong because of the incident on April 25, but they still did not know the truth. Therefore, we should continue to spread the truth. We must tell people what Falun Dafa really is. Just as Master said: "Save all beings; change concepts; destroy dead materials and light will emerge." We come out and tell the truth, in order to rectify people's concepts. When more and more kind-hearted people approve of "Zhen-Shan-Ren", evil has no place to hide. In fact, everything is already arranged in another dimension, and it remains to be seen whether we can move forward and help Master speed the process of rectification in the spirit of the "Foolish Old Man who moved the mountains."
A conversation about why we come out to promote the Fa and tell the truth brought out deep feelings in a practitioner. He said that on April 25, he understood neither the behavior of other practitioners who came out to validate the Fa nor Master's words, so he just took on a spectator's attitude and looked inward to his own cultivation. However, because of his dedication to the Fa, he decided to step forward. He stepped forward in the wind and rain and began to understand many things. He realized that he could not put himself outside the mighty torrent of rectifying the Fa, but that he should dissolve into the Fa, and become a particle of Dafa. "Sins will no longer be allowed to continue." When he put his heart into the Fa, no words could express the change that occurred to his body and mind. He began to understand and his dilemmas were solved.
At first, he planned to buy an airplane ticket to Beijing on October 1, but after reading "Serious Teachings", he understood that overseas practitioners were also charged with important tasks. He said, "Before, I always waited for others to tell me what to do. However, after a certain time of practice and cultivation, I realized that I should not be like that. After the attachment of relying on others was gradually given up, I found my role on my own and it was much better." He earnestly continued, "Throughout this process, my greatest understanding is that I must not shrink back when I meet with difficulties." Clearly, no difficulty is insurmountable if one sets one's mind to it.
His wife told a short story. When she explained to a passerby why we wanted to tell everyday people the truth, she said, "This gives everyone a chance to obtain his or her position in the trial of strength between righteous and evil." After she said that, she worried that she had spoken at a too abstract level and that the passerby would not understand. But when she asked, "Do you understand what I am saying?", that person stared at her closely and said very seriously, "I understand very well.".
The practitioners who came out and distributed materials felt the moving and rectifying of the Fa at full speed when they contacted people directly. They found that, as if by prior arrangement, a lot of kind-hearted Americans were waiting for the understanding of Dafa. Therefore, it was important to intensively promote the Fa. They said, "We cannot wait for people who have concerns to come and look for us. We should help people of our own accord, so that they may understand Dafa and distinguish the righteous from the wicked. If we do not have these strong feelings, how can we help these kind-hearted people who have the same strong feelings to approach Dafa?"
During the promotion of the Fa, the tests and difficulties we met were chances for us to improve ourselves and to help rectify the Fa. Only by communicating with others, do we have the chance to help this society by telling the truth and to dissolve into this level of the Fa. With people bustling about in Washington DC, you can see Dafa practitioners with yellow T-shirts everywhere.
