To commemorate the fourth anniversary of Falun Dafa founder Mr. Li Hongzhi's, visit to Ortega Park practice site in Sunnyvale, California, the Mayor of Sunnyvale, Patricia Vorreiter, issued an honorary proclamation saying: " The day of October 5, 2000 is the Falun Dafa Day of Sunnyvale."
Today, the practitioners at the Ortega Park practice site began this special "Falun Dafa Day" by practicing the exercises together in the morning to the melodious music. The practitioners from nearby practice sites also came to the Park to join the morning practice. It was especially heart-warming that a couple of practitioners drove for over an hour in the darkness before dawn to come to the Park to participate in the morning practice of "Falun Dafa Day." After the morning practice, the practitioners greeted each other with " Happy Holiday!"
Sunnyvale is located at the center of Silicon Valley, south of the San Francisco Bay area. Ortega Park is a special place for Dafa practitioners, and October 5th is a special date for Dafa practitioners. This day four years ago is still fresh in our memories. It was a sunny and pleasant day. Just after Mr. Li Hongzhi arrived in America, despite the long travel, he drove here that very night to see our Dafa practitioners. This Park is the first Dafa practice site our Teacher visited on the continent of North America and Teacher Lis teachings on that day still reverberate here today.
The celebration ceremony of "Falun Dafa Day" will be held at Ortega Park on the morning of October 7, 2000. The Mayors representative will attend the ceremony and issue the award. All Dafa practitioners, their relatives and friends, as well as the people who are interested in Falun Dafa are welcome to attend the ceremony. Local Chinese and English media will also come to interview and report on this event.
