(Jan. 18)
It was a very successful Falun Gong workshop at San Mateo Borders bookstore last Saturday afternoon. The local practitioners were highly appreciative to have made it happen. About 41 people attended the workshop as the bookstore manager told us what she had headcounted.
Alicia Zhao made a wonderful presentation. She first invited audience to participate by asking the questions such as "where do you hear Falun Gong?", "what do you think Falun Gong is?", and "what you expect from the workshop". Most of them replied they got to know about Falun Gong from the news. (Thanks to the Chinese government!) Some of them often raised their concerns. After the presentation, Licheng Niu lead the 5 sets of exercise teaching session and people learned with great interests.
The whole workshop lasted for two hours as scheduled. Some audience stayed to talk with us after the workshop.
Many local practitioners helped workshop including distributing flyers, correcting the movements during exercise teaching.
The Borders bookstore supported the workshop very well by arranging the seats and speakers. The bookstore manager and the photographer from the peninsular local newspaper "Indenpence" took many pictures during the workshop. The reporter of the newspaper also had a phone interview with Alicia and Alan for the their jail experiences because of a Falun Gong gathering in Shenzhen, China.
