Case Description:

Ms. Yang Shuqing was a 72 years old practitioner from Gahanzhabu Village, Jilatu Town, Qianguo County, Songyuan City. She began to practice Falun Gong in 1997 and benefited mentally and physically from this practice. In 1998, Yang went with some practitioners to promote Falun Dafa away from her hometown. After the persecution started in July 1999, the local police unlawfully ransacked her home many times. Yang's older son and younger daughter were sent to forced labor camps. Additionally her older daughter and her grandson were illegally detained numerous times. Yang's mind and body suffered greatly because of these injustices.

On the evening of December 29, 2001, Chief of Jilatu Town Police Station Li Mai and some guards broke into Yang Shuqing's home. They confiscated Falun Gong practice music audiotapes and abducted Yang's grandson Li Dongxu. Yang was shocked and distraught, and became bedridden in despair.

Three days after abducting Yang's grandson, Li Mai showed up at Yang's home with a detention warrant. Yang asked the police to release her grandson, "Because of you I have become distraught and bedridden." Li Mai replied, "If you had not practiced Falun Gong, I would not have come to your home."

Yang Shuqing died on May 19, 2002  as a result of the persecution.
