Case Description:

Ms. Li Yuzhen, from Huangpi District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, was a retired employee of Wuhan City Sixth Pharmaceutical Company. She began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. Not long after she began practicing, her illnesses went away.

After Jiang's regime started to openly persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal. She also went to the countryside to distribute truth-clarification materials. For her efforts to clarify the facts, she was detained twice. During her detention, the local "610 Office" instigated a group of people to climb to the rooftop of her house, tear out tiles from the roof and then descend into the house. At that time, no one was at home. These thugs took away all of her Falun Dafa books and materials.

After she was released, the local police still monitored her closely and they often came to harass her. In order to avoid further persecution, she was once forced to abandon her home and lead a homeless existence for several months.

Because of the long-term physical and mental persecution, Li Yuzhen passed away in January 2003, at the age of 54.
