Case Description:

Practitioner Ms. Dai Shuzhen, 60 years old, is from Meicheng Town, Anhua County, Yiyang City in Hunan Province. She began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. Prior to that, she had many different illnesses. After she started practicing Falun Dafa, all of her illnesses disappeared, which strengthened her faith in Falun Dafa's "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance." In July 2000, Ms. Dai went to Beijing to appeal, to inform the Central Government that Falun Dafa is good. When she arrived at the Changsha City train station, police officers stopped her and took her to the Anhua County Brainwashing Center, where she was tortured for a month.

In 2002, Ms. Dai Shuzhen's son, practitioner Mr. Xiao Guoan, was sent to the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp and tortured. The same year, Ms. Dai Shuzhen was again sent to the Anhua County Brainwashing Center. In 2003 when her son Xiao Guoan was released from the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp, he continued practicing Falun Dafa. He also clarified the truth to the public about how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has persecuted Falun Dafa, so the CCP police tried to arrest him again. In order to avoid being arrested, Mr. Xiao had to leave home but was constantly followed. He could no longer return home. He has had to spend nights in the forest and has survived by eating wild plants and fruits. Even so, the police still continue to hound him and have followed him into the forest, continuing to pursue him for over a year.

During that time, Ms. Dai Shuzhen experienced severe mental torture. Her daily life was totally destroyed by the police harassment. Then in March 2003, several police officer broke into Ms. Dai's home and threatened her, severely traumatizing her. She became seriously distressed. In April 2006, Ms. Dai Shuzhen exhibited edema over her entire body and began spitting up blood. She died in May 2006.
