Case Description:

(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Xiuqing, a Wuqiao County, Hebei Province resident, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in December 2000. She was detained for more than a month and released only after she fell ill.


Ms. Zhang and Ms. Ren Sumei were arrested on March 17, 2010 while talking to people about Falun Gong. Officer Liang Yonggang and a few others ransacked her home. She was released on bail hours later due to her medical condition. Ms. Ren was sent to a detention center and kept there for 20 days.


The two women appeared in court on April 30, 2010. Ms. Ren was taken to Cangzhou Detention Center after the hearing.


Ms. Zhang and Ms. Ren had a second hearing on July 28, 2011, and the presiding judge threatened to sentence them to prison if they kept practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Zhang felt tremendous pressure and died on March 21, 2012. She was 71.
