On July 26, 2006, the Mudanjiang City Prison authorities made two phone calls to the family members of Mr. Kong Xiangzhu, requesting that they pay to arrange medical treatment for Mr. Kong. He is presently thin and weak from abuse and torture, and is unconscious. They have persecuted a strong young man to the brink of death, but still will not release him.
On July 27, the family members were led to the prison administrator's office by team leader Li. The prison chief said, "Kong Xiangzhu is ill. His illness is quite serious. You should pay the cost of his medical treatment. No matter how we 'educate' him, he refuses to be reformed." The whole process of the family members being led into the prison was videotaped.
One of the family members was taken to Ward 11, on the fourth level of Mudanjiang City's Tumor Hospital. When entering, the family member saw two policemen watching Mr. Kong, who was in bed, inert. The family member removed his quilt and saw that Kong Xiangzhu was naked and terribly thin, but was still shackled. Each rib was clearly visible. His weight was about 80 lbs. while he previously had weighed about 125 lbs. He was unconscious. No matter how loudly his family member called to him, he gave no response.
Seeing this, the family member said to the police, "You should be held responsible!" The police team leader Li then said, "Let the family members look after him." Li attempted to leave. A doctor and a lead doctor were then going to do a procedure on his lower back and said, "According to science, we need the result." The family member agreed to have the procedure done. The result was not clear on July 28, 2006, so Mr. Kong underwent a brain CT scan. The results however were still inconclusive. The doctor then decided to consult with several medical specialists to arrive at a diagnosis on the following Monday. The result of the diagnosis was toxic encephalitis and tuberculosis. With toxic encephalitis, one faces the risk of death at any time. On Tuesday the specialists met again to confirm the diagnosis, and the result was the same as the first time.
The family member asked the doctor not to defame Falun Gong, and not to fabricate lies by making use of the video. When he woke up and saw the doctor, Kong Xiangzhu became very frightened, trembled all over and bit the inside of his mouth. The CCP has persecuted a strong young man to the brink of death, but still would not release him.
Tuberculosis ,as well as various liver illnesses, seem presently to be rampant in the Mudanjiang Prison. The prison guards called the family members of the detainees and told them to send money in order to buy nutritional supplements to improve the inmates' immune systems.
Note: In 2003, Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Xingfu from Shuangyashan City was severely persecuted. He contracted tuberculosis in Mudanjiang Prison. He was not released until the family members demanded his release after he had lost consciousness and was at the brink of death. However, due to the CCP's persecution, his family did not have the money for treatment. Mr. Zhang passed away in January 2003.
The Lanzhou Women's Jail is the largest women's jail in Gansu Province. It is located at 300 Jiuzhou Avenue, Jiuzhou Development District in Lanzhou City. At present, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is still sending money to the jail to construct more buildings for further persecution of more Falun Gong practitioners. Each morning, the new arrivals of female practitioners are forced by the jail to watch TV programs slandering Falun Gong. All practitioners are monitored individually by two "watchdogs" (criminal inmates, or sometimes collaborators). In the afternoon, the jail forces the practitioners to write various "transformation" statements and recite the prison regulations. It is common to have practitioners savagely beaten on a regular basis. The practitioners who firmly believe in Falun Gong and cannot be "transformed" are turned over to the Education and Transformation Section for additional persecution.
On April 26, 2006, Jinchang area Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lei Zhanxiang was illegally transferred to the Lanzhou Women's Jail. On the morning of the 27th, the ward incited two inmates to beat Ms. Lei and deprived her of sleep for three days and nights. They also forced her to watch the brainwashing recordings. Ms. Lei's face became extremely swollen from the beatings, to the point of drooping down nearly to her shoulders. In addition, her eyes were very red. During a medical examination, she was diagnosed with high blood pressure and a heart problem. In spite of this, the jail forced her to take several unknown medicines. As a result, her stomach ached severely.
Wuwei City practitioner Ms. Zhao Fenglian was tortured to death. From September 2005, wards of the newcomer's team had brutally persecuted her. They forced her to write the "Four Statements" to break from Falun Gong, and take unknown drugs, infusions and injections. She was abused to the point that she became quite emaciated. On December 22, 2005, Ms. Zhao Fenglian died unjustly.
The Lanzhou Women's Jail also tries to force all practitioners to lie to their families during jail visits and say that the jail environment is very good and that the jail leaders, ward leaders and inmates all treat the practitioners very well. The evil wardens dare to persecute the practitioners in jail only because the Party Committee Secretary of the state Lu Hao supports them.
I was very shocked a few days ago when I read the news on the Internet that Yu Lianchun had been persecuted to death. In September 2000, when I was illegally imprisoned at the 4th Group of the First Women's Labor Camp in Jiangshuiquan, Jinan City, Yu Lianchun was transferred from the 1st Group to the 4th Group. She looked very young even though she was nearly fifty years old. I was told that she was subjected to a lot of torture while she was at the 1st Group. She was beaten many times by the police and inmates because she refused to give up practicing Falun Gong.
During the time she was imprisoned at the 4th Group, policewoman Wang Shuzhen locked her in the warehouse and didn't allow her to wash her face, brush her teeth, or take a shower for more than twenty days because she would not give up practicing Falun Gong. She got only a steamed bun and one chunk of preserved vegetables for a meal. She was only allowed to sleep four hours per day, and was not allowed to sleep until everyone else was asleep. She had to begin work at the warehouse before everyone else got up. She was forced to attend brainwashing classes and she received unceasing threats every day. She became absent-minded, had dull vision, and sometimes talked to herself. Whenever she saw guard Wang Shuzhen, she was so frightened that her whole body shivered. Later she had difficulty walking. She did not recognize anyone around her and could not take care of herself.
Within about twenty days, Yu Lianchun became a different person due to the torture. Everyone requested that the labor camp take her to a doctor. But guard Wang Shuzhen said that Yu Lianchun was only pretending to behave this way. Sometimes other Falun Gong practitioners used the opportunity of visiting the restroom to help her shower and change clothes without letting the guards know. Yu Lianchun has an eighty-year-old mother and an underage daughter.
In October 2000, I was transferred to the 5th Group. Since then I had not heard any news about her. I tried hard and inquired about her through the Falun Gong practitioners from the 4th Group but no one knew her whereabouts. Today however I confirmed that Yu Lianchun had been persecuted to death at the labor camp.
It is guard Wang Shuzhen who directly caused Yu Lianchun's death. This is one more crime that Jiang Zemin's gang has committed.
Note: Yu Lianchun was born in 1944. She was from Jinan City, Shandong Province. She was a retired employee of a power plant in Dezhou City. She was illegally sentenced to three years in a labor camp in February 2000 and was imprisoned at the Jinan Women's Labor Camp because she was practicing Falun Gong and believed in "Truth, Compassion, Forbearance." In December 2000, Yu Lianchun was tortured to death at the 4th Group of Jinan Women's Labor Camp. Not long after she died, her daughter was arrested and sent to the Wangchun Labor Camp to be persecuted.

On March 1-2, 2006, officials in Shanxi Province started a sudden large-scale arrest of practitioners in the cities of Jincheng, Zhangzhi and Gaoping. The police and work unit officials appeared at almost every Falun Gong practitioners' home. They claimed that they would ransack their homes and confiscate their property. With sirens wailing, more than twenty policemen in four police cars went to a practitioner's home. They were everywhere.
Due to the long duration of the persecution and harassment by the police, the elderly in practitioners' families were not able to bear these sudden frightening situations. One older lady was so frightened that she became mentally traumatized on the spot, didn't eat or drink and died soon after. Some elderly were so frightened that they lost control of their excretory functions, couldn't move and/or needed their children to help them to bed. Others had diseases relapse and/or were sent to the hospital.
Facing such a situation, Falun Gong practitioners and their family members seriously warned the perpetrators of the consequences of their vicious deeds. Some family members said to the police on the spot, "If anything happens to my mom or dad I will not let you off the hook." Some family members opened their doors and let bystanders know that the evil party again was doing inhuman things. They let bystanders see which policemen were the perpetrators. The family members of the practitioners who were taken away by the police made phone calls to the police station. Some family members immediately went to the related organizations to ask for the release of their loved ones. Managers of some of the practitioners' work units went to the police station to ask for the release of their employees.
Having learned lessons from the tragedy of the concentration camps and having known the despicable nature of the police due to long-time contact with them, the family members of the Falun Gong practitioners have become upright and are without fear. They tried to reason with the police and actively rescue their family members. With the good efforts by Falun Gong practitioners, family members and other people with conscience, most of the arrested practitioners were released and got home safely.
But there are Falun Gong practitioners still being detained. In Jincheng City there are still six Falun Gong practitioners detained in the detention center in Zezhou County and later in the detention center in Jincheng City. Among them, two have been sentenced illegally. Another four are facing trial. There is also a practitioner who has been persecuted, suffers serious disease symptoms and has been staying in a hospital. Five practitioners in Changzhi City are still being persecuted; two of them have been sent to the Xindian Labor Camp in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, while the rest are still being jaied in the detention center.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Yutong from Dehui City, Jilin Province died on November 6, 2003, as a result of tortures he suffered at the Yinmahe Labor Camp in Jilin Province. Li Yutong was arrested, sent to labor camp(s), and tortured many times for his belief in Falun Gong. The following is supplemental information about his persecution.
Li Yutong lived in Sunjiatun, Xinjian Village, Biangang Township, Dehui City in the Changchun area. He underwent surgery for a perforated appendix in the winter of 1996. The surgical incision healed abnormally and became infected. Doctors could not help him. He walked hunchbacked for a long time, could not work, and groaned all the time from pain. One day a relative introduced him to Falun Gong. One week after he learned Falun Gong, his incision had miraculously healed and the pain was gone. He began to practice wholeheartedly. He previously had a terrible temper and often fought with his wife, but after he practiced Falun Gong, his temperament improved and he became very considerate of others. His family became happy and peaceful.
After the persecution against Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, Li Yutong went to Beijing to appeal and to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. The police illegally arrested and sent him back to Dehui City where he was held at the city's custody center for more than forty days. The guards abused him verbally and physically during that period. They burned his fingers with a cigarette lighter and severely injured his thumb. The scar remained for a long time afterward.
Soon after Li Yutong was released, about eight people including Song Shize and Wang Jinghui, officers from the Biangang Township Police Station, broke into Li Yutong's home and arrested him. He held a protest hunger strike at the custody center and fifteen days later showed symptoms of severe illness. He was on the brink of death. The captors sent him to the Dehui City Hospital for emergency treatment. The doctor said that Li Yutong could not be rescued. His family demanded his release, but the Dehui City Police Department and the detention center officials intimidated his family, demanding they sign a document saying that Li Yutong's eventual death would not have anything to do with them. They also tried to extort "guarantee money" from the family. The family firmly refused and said, "He is in such a dangerous condition. Who will be responsible if he dies?" The police reluctantly let the family take Li Yutong home.
Li Yutong recovered quickly after he went home and was nearly well again within only a few days. Officials from the Dehui City Police Department and from the Biangang Township Police Station constantly harassed him at home and planned to arrest him. Li Yutong left home to avoid further persecution and worked at temporary jobs. He could no longer take care of his mother in her 80s, or his wife and child.
Li Yutong's daughter Li Cong visited her aunt on October 11, 2002. Police arrested her for practicing Falun Gong and sentenced her to one year of forced labor. His elder mother experienced her son being arrested and her granddaughter being sent to a labor camp. The police threatened and harassed her at home. Li Yutong's mother thus passed away on April 30, 2003.
Li Yutong was arrested soon afterward while clarifying the truth at a place near his job site. He was sentenced to forced labor and sent to the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai City. While there, Li Yutong refused to cooperate with the lawless officials and refused to be "reformed," so he was tortured. Li Yutong held another hunger strike and was force-fed.
It was learned that Li Yutong was force-fed a large quantity of a toxic fluid before his death. Therefore, he was murdered. The labor camp saw that he was dying and told the family to take him home. He was diagnosed with kidney failure and passed away on November 6, 2003. His daughter was still held at the labor camp at the time of his death, a few days' short of the expiration of her term. The labor camp officials nevertheless refused to let her see her father for the last time.
The Chinese Communist Party owes yet another human life. A healthy, working person was tortured to death within a few months of his arrest.

On June 14, 2006, Zhang Pengfei, an official with the Fengning County State Security Department 610 Office in Hebei Province, along with more than ten policemen from the Heishanzui County Police Station, broke into the home of Ms. Deng Guilan, a Beizhouying Falun Gong practitioner. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and truth clarifying materials. They then invaded another practitioner's home in the same village and did the same thing.
At 11:00 a.m. on the same day, Zhang Pengfei and his gang rushed to Bochaiguo Village, Heishanzui County, and broke into the home of practitioner Ms. Yu Shuyun. She was illegally arrested and held in the Fengning Detention Center. The authorities demanded that her family pay 10,000 yuan for her release. Despite Ms. Yu's family's limited income, they came up with the money and bailed her out of the detention center.
On June 26, 2006, many malicious policemen from Heishanzui County Police Station and personnel from the Fengning County State Security Department 610 Office arrived at the home of Mr. Liu Baofeng, a Xiaoyingzi practitioner. They broke in and ransacked his house, confiscating his Falun Gong books. Valuable antiques were also taken.
