Ms. Wang Wengduan's cancer disappeared after she began to cultivate in Dafa, but she was later persecuted to death because she persisted in her belief

Ms. Wang Wenduan, 53, was from Dingzhou City in Hebei Province. She retired from the Vending and Supply Bureau of Dingzhou City. She lived at the family quarters of the Dingzhou City Broadcast Bureau in Zhongjunzhang Village, the Nancheng District. She had breast cancer before she began to cultivate in Falun Gong. Despite several operations and chemotherapies, her condition was not improving. It disappeared, however, in September 1996, after she began to cultivate. She became very healthy, and the hair she had lost also re-grew.

In July 2000, Ms. Wang was put in Dingzhou Jail by Xiao Fudi, the police officer in charge of Falun Gong matters in the Dingzhou Police Department. She was arrested because she went to Beijing to appeal and to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. She was forced to do hard labor for eleven months while in jail, and she was subsequently sent to Baoding Forced Labor Camp for another year.

After she was released from the forced labor camp, the 610 Office and the National Security Squadron of Dingzhou City continued to monitor her closely. They tapped her phone, and went to her home to harass her. In February 2003, the police officers from Nancheng tried to take pictures of her, which she resisted. She was interrogated one day by plainclothes policemen when she went out, and they told her that she needed their permission to go out. That night, a dozen or so people, comprising the police and the village soldiers from Zhongjunzhang Village, jumped into her house through the roof and ransacked her home. Later they dragged her into the police car and took her to the Dingzhou Jail.

In May 2003, she was taken to the brainwashing center in Zhuozhou City, which held practitioners taken from different counties in Baoding City. Those responsible for the abuse in the center were all hired rascals. Gao Xuefei forced Ms. Wang and others to sit on a small bench--no talking, head straight, and only allowed to only look straight ahead. One would be slapped and tied to a post and be exposed to the scorching sun if one moved even slightly. Unable to force her to give up her belief, those in charge locked her in a dark, small room, hung her up by her arms, shocked her with electric batons and beat her with rubber batons. They spread her arms and legs, cuffed them on a big iron bed, and then they beat the soles of her feet with wooden batons with nails, smashing her feet. This abuse cut open old scars which had previously healed through cultivation, and they began to bleed heavily. She passed out many times.

Due to the brutal torture, Ms. Wang had injuries all over her body. The old scars festered, and her life was in peril. The hospital exam showed that cancer cells had begun to spread, and she had less than a month to live. To evade their responsibilities, the brainwashing center transferred her to Dingzhou Jail, but the city 610 Office and the police department still refused to release her for medical treatment. She was finally released when the jail decided that they did not want to take the responsibility, either. Because of all the trauma, her cancer was exacerbated and she passed away in July 2004.

Ms. Sun Shouqi had a happy family because she cultivated in Falun Dafa, but she died as a result of the persecution

Ms. Sun Shouqi, 56, lived on Madao Street in Dingzhou City.

Sun Shouqi

Because of her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Sun was arrested in April 2002 and jailed in the Dingzhou City Detention Center. She began a hunger strike on June 1, 2003, to protest the prolonged detention and was injected against her will with an unknown drug by the police on June 3. She died on the morning of June 4.

Before beginning her cultivation in Falun Gong, Ms. Sun got ill from too much hard work. She had indigestion and insomnia and often could not sleep through the night. She had seen many doctors, but no specific illness was diagnosed and they just gave her pills. She began to cultivate in Falun Dafa in the summer of 1998. Very soon afterwards, her health improved and she was able to operate a sesame oil store at her home; her son was admitted to a college; the whole family was very happy.

After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, officers Lu Shujun from Dingzhou City Police Department, and Kong Cangmin and Li Lixian from Nancheng Police Station frequently went to her home, attempting to get her to give up her belief. She was forced to close down her oil business and moved to a rental house in Luzhuangzi Village in the Xicheng District. Her son was also forced to give up his studies at college.

On the afternoon of April 24, 2002, a group of officers from Xicheng Police Station rushed into her home and ransacked it. Finding nothing, they arrested her and took her to the police station. Her brother went there to get her released, but he was turned down. The police then jailed her in Chengbei Detention Center.

On June 1, 2003, the police gathered all practitioners in the yard and formed rows while they searched the jail cells. They threw everything, such as quilts, dry noodles, and dry milk onto the floor, and took away Teacher's articles that practitioners had carefully hid away. The practitioners were beaten brutally when they asked for the articles back.

The practitioners went on a hunger strike that morning, and asked to see the city director and be released. At about 5:00 p.m. on June 3, the police came in and carried Ms. Sun out. She had been on the hunger strike non stop. Ten or so officers plus Deputy Chief Liu Jianying held her down and injected her with unknown drugs. An officer with the last name Hao pulled her hand to the side of the bed and sat on it. In extreme pain, she said, "Please move a bit. You're breaking my hand." But the officer replied, "That is exactly what I want." As a result, one of her right fingers broke, exposing the bone and bleeding profusely. Warden Zhang Gengshen held her head down, and, seeing that she was struggling, grabbed her by the hair and smashed her head against the bed.

At around 9:00 p.m., after feebly telling people what had happened, she could not speak anymore. She lost control of her bladder, kept spitting up a white foam, and passed away at 11:00 a.m. on June 4.
