(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 14 provinces. In this report, 16 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 23 practitioners were "illegally arrested."

The Second Division of Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp manufactures owl crafts and plush balls for the Rongfeng Craft Factory in Changchun City. Those products are exported to Wal-mart in the USA. In order to increase the output value, the guards colluded with the Rongfeng Craft Factory and forced Falun Dafa practitioners to work overtime. The smell of camphor made the practitioners cough and caused nausea and headaches.

The guards detained Ms. Jiang Guiyuan with a detainee who was mentally ill. The detainee was allowed to beat Ms. Jiang at will.

On the night of August 8, 2008, Ms. Sun Guifang from Yangxin, Ms. Li Xiaojun from Wuli and Ms. Wen Aiguan were reported to police while they were distributing fliers about Falun Gong. They were arrested by police. Ms. Sun Guifang took off her handcuffs and managed to walk away from the police station. She becomes homeless and destitute in order to avoid being arrested at home.

Ms. Sun Guifang's two sons and her brother-in-law were also arrested. They were tortured for one month. It was said they would not be released until they paid 10,000 yuan per person.

Ms. Li Xiaojun and Ms. Wen Aiguan were sentenced to 20 months in a forced labor camp. The police went to the home of Ms. Li Xiaojun and threatened her mother.

Ms. Xiao Guo was arrested and sentenced to seven years in prison.

At 9:00 a.m. on May 20, 2009, Mr. Li Laidou was taken away from his home by police and detained in the Linyi County Detention Center. The police also took away several Dafa books from his home.

Ms. Wang Shuhui is a retired employee of the Xinhua Printing Factory. At 8:00 p.m. on May 18, 2009, she went to the Zhuguang Residential Area of Hebei Agriculture University to distribute fliers about Falun Gong. Li Zhongyi and other guards who patrolled the university reported her to the police. On May 20, 2009, she was arrested by police from the Nanguan Police Station, the Nanshi District Police Department and National Security Team, the Baoding City Police Department. Ms. Wang was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp. She is being detained in the Balizhuang Forced Labor Camp in Baoding City.

Ms. Ma Guilan, 55, lives in the Linheli Resident Area in Haigang District, Qinhuangdao City. On the morning of May 5, 2009, she was arrested by the Donghuan Road Police Station while she was explaining the facts about Falun Gong at the Dongfangmingzhu Resident Area. She was detained in the Qinhuangdao Second Detention Center. On May 13, 2009, she was sent to the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City for an 18-month term.

At noon on May 22, 2009, 70-year-old Ms. Zhang Mingde was reported to police while she was explaining the facts about Falun Gong in Tianqiao Township, Linquan County. She was arrested and her home was searched. The police took away Dafa books, fliers about Falun Gong and Shen Yun DVDs. On that afternoon, police also arrested Ms. Wang, who was at Ms. Zhang Mingde's home.

Mr. Ma Daxue, 49, lives in Beicaokou Village, Chu'an Township, Renqiu City. On May 17, 2009, guards at Beijing Airport found Dafa books in his bag when he was about to check in. The guards took away his cell pone and 2,000 yuan in cash. Mr. Ma was later detained in the Renqiu Detention Center.

Ms. Wang Chunling from Zazi Town, Jiangyuan District was arrested by officers from the Zhazi Police Station and the Jiangyuan National Security Team on April 24, 2009. She has been sentenced to 18 months in a forced labor camp. On May 5, 2009, Ms. Wang was sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Sun Yufa was arrested on the same day as Ms. Wang Chunling. She was sent to the Jiutai Forced Labor Camp. Due to her physical condition, the camp refused to accept her. She has been released home.

Ms. Zhang Shuying, 37, Ms. Zhang Shujuan, 39, and four other practitioners were arrested when they studied the Fa together in a group.

Mr. Han Mingsu and Ms. Wang Hongzi from Weihai Economy and Technology Developing District were reported to police while they were explaining the facts about Falun Gong at Haishang Park. They were arrested by the Huangguan Police Station. Now they are being detained in the Weihai Detention Center.

Ms. Li Caixiu, about 50 years old, is a teacher in Wenfeng, Longxi County. Around May 19, 2009, she was arrested while she distributing fliers about Falun Gong near the Chengguan Chinese Medicine Hospital. Now she is being detained in the Chengguang Detention Center in Longxi County.

On the night of May 22, 2009, Che Yanjun and other officers from the Tieren Police Department in Daqing City arrested Ms. Liu Li and Ms. Zhang from Bener Village.

Ms. Mi Qiaozhen lives in Huangtan Village, Huangxikou Town, Chenxi County, Huaihua City. On May 21, 2009, a market day, she was arrested while she was distributing fliers about Falun Gong in Huangxikou Town.

On June 16, 2000, Mr. He Zhanfeng went to Beijing to speak out for Falun Dafa. He was taken back to Xuchang City and sent to the Xiangcheng County Detention Center. One week later, he managed to walk away with righteous thoughts. On July 17, 2000, he was sent to a brainwashing center where he was detained for ten days.

On July 14, 2001, Mr. He Zhanfeng was taken to the Xuchang City Detention Center because he purchased a copy machine. On June 7, 2002, he was sentenced to three years in prison. During the past ten years, his home phone has been tapped and he has often been followed. The police regularly go to his home and harass him on so-called "sensitive days."

On May 23, 2009, Ms. Li Huijuan was reported to police while she was explaining the facts about Falun Gong to others. She was arrested by police. On that night, she was sent to the Laiyang Detention Center.

On May 23, 2009, Ms. Zhou Jibi (about 50 years old) and her husband Mr. Yin Zhihai (about 60 years old) from Tongliang were taken away from their home. Their home was searched and tens of thousands of yuan in cash was taken way. Now their whereabouts are unknown.

At noon on May 14, 2009, Ms. Deng Zongfang was arrested by officers from the Kuiguang Police Station. Afterwards, her home was searched. The police took away fliers about Falun Gong and other personal property. Ms. Deng is being detained in the Dujiangyan Detention Center. Her family members are not allowed to visit her.

On May 17, 2009, Ms. Yang Hua, Mr. Ye Hao, Ms. Wu Yali and Ms. Li Qinmeng were heavily sentenced by the Hantai Court in Hanzhong City. Ms. Yang Hua was sentenced to nine years in prison and the other practitioners were sentenced to five years.

At 10:30 a.m. on May 1, 2009, policeman Wang Guoan led five or six officers from the Chaoyang Police Station in Gaomi City to search the home of Ms. Wang Yanying. They took away a tape recorder, copies of Master Li's articles, some fliers about Falun Gong, and other items. Ms. Wang Yanying climbed over the yard wall and managed to walk away. Ms. Wang was forced to become homeless and destitute to avoid being arrested at home.

Ms. Wang Yanyin, 43, was an employee of the electrical room of the Gaomi Chemical Fiber Factory. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, she was dismissed from her post because she firmly believes in Falun Gong. Her husband works in an army department and divorced her under pressure from the Army. On August 31, 2001, Ms. Wang was sent to the Jinan Women's Forced Labor Camp for a three-year term.

At 6:00 p.m. on May 21, 2009, 48-year-old Ms. Deng Guifang was reported to the police while she was distributing truth-clarification fliers on a bus. When she got off the bus, she was taken away by officers from the Shuidong Police Station. That night, the police station superintendent led police to search her home.

Mr. Zeng Qingqin and his wife Mrs. Lao Meixing are retired. At 4:00 p.m. on May 18, 2009, officers from the Haicheng District 610 Office and the local police station forcibly broke into their home and took them away. They are being detained in a brainwashing center.
