(Clearwisdom.net) Shen Yun played its third performance in the greater San Diego area, in Escondido on May 27. Many people from around the greater San Diego came to appreciate a five-thousand year culmination of Chinese culture, presented through classical Chinese dance.

Publicist Says Shen Yun is "everything wonderful about human beings"

Ms. White, a publicist came to the performance and thought it was "amazing, this performance is amazing. From the moment that the curtains come up, every performer is concerned about what they're doing, where they are, what's happening, what they look like. Me, as someone watching, I was crying by the way; I was bawling up until intermission. It's very primal to me; it's very ordered. It's beauty, it's strength, it's everything great, everything powerful, everything wonderful about human beings, about beauty," she said.

In reference to the universal appeal that Shen Yun brings forth, she added, "There's so much order, you don't have to fix anything. This show outdoes countries, you don't need someone explaining it. In fact this kind of show shouldn't need explanation. The performance in and of itself was incredibly powerful ... I was crying by intermission, without a word," she said. She added that she "did walk away with a new understanding of Chinese culture."

"I like the idea of them saying 'this is what we believe in.' I felt like they were saying: 'California, we think Californians are kind of cool; we think you're cool enough for us to present our culture to you. We think you'll understand it. So here it is--do you get it?'" Ms. White answered her own question: "I think I get it, and I'm excited about it. I'm glad I was here. I'm so excited they thought enough of us Californians to even feel that we would get this show. I really don't care if anyone else got it--I got it."

"I loved it, I was at the edge of my seat...I started clapping early for everything, everyone clapped after me. ... every time I started clapping, everybody started clapping, so I said to my husband, 'I might be early, but I'm not wrong,'" she said.

Ms. White expressed her feeling, "I was so into the show. In America, especially with what's going on in the world, financially, we need beauty; we need order; we need to know we can go somewhere and see something and there's going to be order, to get away--who isn't going to have trouble in their life? Everyone's going to have some kind of trouble, even Aphrodite had trouble."

Retired Attorney: "The soul shines through from the performance"

"I loved everything about it--there's nothing I didn't care for at all," said Mrs. Schwimmer, there with her husband. She is a retired attorney-turned-yoga instructor, and was very enthusiastic about the show. "I am so deeply touched that America provides a forum for this beautiful, beautiful thing to be cultivated, grown, and preserved--this ancient beautiful tradition."

She said about the performers, "They are very special and we're lucky to have the opportunity to see this. And what a deal, we don't have to go far away to do it. It comes right here to our town. I really love all of the hand gestures--the hands were mesmerizing. Beautiful. I think there are mudras [hand signs] in every culture and they are just as important and developed here. So if you go to the museum and you see Buddha with different hand mudras, you'll see things here as well. To me it's very exciting."

Mrs. Schwimmer said, "I think that the language of movement transcends the language that we speak. And you don't have to understand one another's language to understand the beauty and the language of movement and the message that comes up through the soul and out through the body."

"I think it's very beautiful and very spiritual. And you can tell that really comes through. I think it shines ... the soul shines through from the performance."

Retired Executive: 'It brings you to life'

Mr. and Mrs. Coursin, a retired couple, were delighted to be in the audience. Mrs. Coursin, formerly in real estate, said, "It is beautiful, delightful. I like the costumes. I like the synchronicity, the beauty of each dancer, and the production itself."

Mrs. Coursin was especially touched by the performance "Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution" that tells the tale of a father who is persecuted to death for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline. "I cried real tears, because I was really moved by the story [about] the gentleman and the family when he died. I understood it very well, and it was emotional for me. So I was very moved by that."

Mr. Coursin, a retired executive of a large San Diego-based company, also enjoyed the show. It was his second time seeing Shen Yun in San Diego. "I think it's fantastic. The choreography, the color, and it expresses the beauty. The songs--the divinity. ... I love the part especially when the fellow sang. I thought it was absolutely unbelievable. Very impressive. I would recommend anybody to see it."

Mr. Coursin particularly liked the drums. "I thought that was very impressive. It's very exhilarating--it brings you to life," he said.
