(Clearwisdom.net) Many people celebrated Mother's Day at Pasadena Civic Auditorium, where the majestic Shen Yun Performing Arts returned from a global tour for its 2009 Spring Tour.

Ms. Pearlman, a trustee with the Los Angeles community college district, shared her enthusiasm, "I just experienced the most fantastic performance. This was a beautiful production--the choreography was excellent, and the dancers had such wonderful precision. The costuming was so colorful and gorgeous, the singing is spectacular. It's really a great performance in terms of understanding the history of China, too, and seeing the various styles and the various ethnic groups, and the various traditions. It's really beautiful."

"They [Shen Yun] covered a lot of different territory, they explained a lot of different traditions, a lot of the different stories, and I enjoyed the mix of history, dance, music."

Commenting on two of the pieces that depict modern China and the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Pearlman said, "Being here in the United States of America we certainly believe that everyone should be able to have their own faith and be able to experience it, and we hope that that would be the case all over the world. That was a wonderful presentation of what is going on in a very artistic fashion, and very informative."

Ms. Pearlman was also impressed by the grand scale and the variety of the show. "I couldn't believe the size of the production company, they've kept coming out with something new and spectacular every single number, there was something different, and it was really wonderful. The entire production really reflected a thought-out production that can be enjoyed by Chinese and non-Chinese alike, and I'm so pleased that I was able to experience this and to see and learn from the performers on stage."

Ms. Pearlman called the show a "wonderful experience" that everybody should come and see and enjoy, and said enthusiastically, "I look forward to seeing what's going to happen next year."

Attorney: "I knew it would be very special"

Professional attorney Mrs. Kim spoke of her experience at the show, saying, "I knew it would be very special, better than I expected. I am really happy I came along today. We wanted to come because we like these kinds of shows. We like Chinese dancing and martial arts."

Mrs. Kim was blown away by the gorgeous costumes and kaleidoscope of colors. "It is so different to anything that you will ever see here, [in] Western style. The colors are so beautiful and really bright. All the different costumes, details you've never seen before. All the different dances, the different techniques. I liked watching the different dance techniques."

In addition to the physical side to the show, there was spiritual content as well that Mrs. Kim really appreciated. "On one level you can enjoy it as a dance performance. An awesome, amazing, very impressive performance on a technical level," she said, "and on the other hand, there are cultural and spiritual aspects too. I found it very interesting, you don't always get that in a typical dance performance and that added to my enjoyment of the show. It was very personally uplifting and especially those last performances with the drums. I thought it tied all the things together and it is really a great end to the show."

Regarding her favorite parts, she liked "the Tang dynasty drummers and the water fairy dancers. They were all really great, but I think those were the most memorable ones."

Educator: "It is an experience of a life time"

Among the audience was Dr. Holly, a chairperson of a Long Beach steering committee and an educator in the school district. "I was completely transformed through each of these scenes for each performance. The colors and the scenery, everything was pulled together very nicely and it was a complete entertaining performance, both visual and musical," she said.

This was the first time that Dr. Holly watched this particular performance. About 25 years ago, she explained, she saw a Chinese opera performance when she was traveling in China, but she found this show "completely different, very exciting and enjoyable."

Dr. Holly also enjoyed the vocal performances, and said the lyrics were "quite enjoyable" and also very "soothing," "relaxing," and "fulfilling." "I enjoyed them very much," she said.

In closing, Dr. Holly said, "It is an experience of a lifetime. You will walk away remembering almost every single scene; you will remember something long after the performance is over. You must come out and see it."
