(Clearwisdom.net) At around 3:00 p.m. on March 18, 2009, some people who identified themselves as police from the Yuming Town Police Station, in Yushu County, Jilin Province, drove to Dancheng Town, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. They were guided by local police officer Chen Fumin, who broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Xuemin and arrested him. Mr. Zhang's daughter-in-law, who suffered from serious deafness, tried to stop the plainclothes police from arresting her father and required that they show their identification, but the two officers reacted rudely toward her. When she resisted the police they used garden spades found in the yard to beat the family. As a result Mr. Zhang's nephew was seriously injured and was sent to a local hospital.
Upon seeing this, the driver and another person took Mr. Zhang to the Dancheng Police Station and later came back and took away the two officers. They took no action for the injured victim, but instead called Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials in Yushu County. The police in Yushu County then moved together with the police in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province by ordering the Police Department of Shuangcheng City to dispatch three police groups and five police vehicles to tightly blockade Dancheng Town, to forbid people from coming to see what was going on. Mr. Zhang was later taken to Yushu County, Jilin Province from Dancheng Town. His detention whereabouts are not known.
Mr. Zhang is about 50 years old and he is a farmer. He practiced Falun Gong with his wife and was a good person who lived according to the Falun Gong principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He lived a happy life with his son, daughter-in-law and his grandson. After the Chinese New Year in 2007, his wife Ms. Lu Guirong went to Yumin Town, Yushu County, Jilin Province, and was arrested by police from Yumin Town when she was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong and distributing truth-clarifying materials to people. Despite the fact that she was in poor health after a recent cancer surgery, the police detained her and mistreated her. She was later sentenced to three years of imprisonment by authorities from Yushu County, Jilin Province, and was held in the Changchun Women's Prison. During this time the CCP officials from Yumin County constantly harassed Mr. Zhang and his family. Mr. Zhang's health worsened because he was so worried about his wife. He was in critical condition and could hardly breathe, and his inner organs were in chronic pain. Nonetheless, he persisted in doing the Falun Gong exercises, and his condition soon improved. However, when the CCP officials from Yumin Town, Yushu County broke into his home to arrest him, he suffered so much and his family was in great sorrow.
Before the Beijing Olympic Games, officials Guan Wenliang, Gao Zhiwu, Bo Jianfu and Chen Jiang from Dancheng Town, closely followed the CCP to persecute Falun Gong. They ordered villagers and local officials to closely watch the local practitioners.
We hereby call on the international organizations to help in rescuing Mr. Zhang.
