(Clearwisdom.net) Ye Hao was born in 1937 in Fuzhou, China. He is 72 years old. After graduating from Qinghua University, he worked at the Ministry of Public Security and held an important post for many years. Ye Hao started researching, learning and practicing Qigong in 1978, and started publicly promoting Qigong in 1986. In 1992, he started practicing Falun Dafa. He moved to Canada in 1997 and now lives in New York.
On "April 25", 1999, more than ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners spontaneously went to the State Council Appeals Office to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. As the tenth anniversary of April 25th approaches, Mr. Ye Hao, as a member of the Falun Dafa Association, shared his understanding of Falun Dafa in an interview with a Minghui/Clearwisdom reporter. The following is based on a recording of the interview:

Ye Hao: Falun Dafa is a cultivation practice. What is "cultivation practice?" Cultivation is a refinement process that pursues something more advanced in life. So cultivation itself is an experience that requires one to be in the human world and then to cultivate out of the human world. According to Shakyamuni, it is the pursuit of "the other side of Nirvana." Falun Dafa is an advanced cultivation method of the Buddha School that cultivates both mind and body. Shakyamuni's cultivation can actually be summed up in three words: "Precept, Concentration, Wisdom." Falun Dafa cultivates according to the most fundamental principles of the universe: Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, so it is very different from the cultivation that follows "Precept, Concentration, Wisdom."
In fact, everyone probably thinks about: What's the purpose in life? Where did I come from? Why do I live? Some people cannot find a clear answer, so they think it is most important to get married, to have children, and to have a happy family. Some people say that love is probably the most important; some say that it is probably most important to earn more money, and make a big fortune; some people think that the pursuit of science is the most important; some people say that it is most important to create the well-being of mankind and push forward the development of human society. So all kinds of people are involved in a lot of painstaking pursuit, exploring, working hard and struggling, based on their own understanding, and aiming for the goals that they pursue.
But everybody also thinks about: Where did man come from? Why do people live? The answer to these questions can be considered a high-level secret among human beings, so it's hard to find it. In fact, the Buddha School also talks about these truths, the same is true with the Dao School. What is the difference between this truth and that truth? There are truths at different levels, and from different angles. There are higher truths. So Shakyamuni said before entering Nirvana, "I did not teach anything." which is to say, "I did not tell you the real and ultimate truth of the universe." Falun Dafa seeks what the universe is all about, how the universe came into being, how the universe develops, where human beings come from, how human beings' lives are arranged--these kinds of deeper things. Falun Dafa unfolds all this to people the most completely, systematically and thoroughly. It is really a fundamental truth that everybody pursues, and the truth that everybody will pursue with great interest and desire. But, it is quite a rare thing. As the Buddha School says, one can only obtain it with a predestined relationship. You cannot obtain it without the predestined relationship.
Moreover, this highest truth seems to be at a great distance from our ordinary lives. If you only consider getting married, having children, having a happy family, your career, earning money, or making a fortune, where can you find this? It is not easy to find, even if you search all over the world. You cannot find it even if you search all the temples. So even if you have been to a sacred place for cultivation, or a number of sacred places for cultivation that exist nowadays, how many people are there who can truly understand the truth of the universe? So it is not something that people generally talk about, such as their job, how much they earned today, how beautiful their wife is, how well-behaved their children are. It is not that kind of thing.
