(Clearwisdom.net) After Shen Yun Performing Arts 2009 World Tour opened at Auckland's ASB Theatre on Wednesday evening, college vice principal Mr. Clements highly praised the show. The educator felt he gained a deeper knowledge of classical Chinese culture. One of the dances was "The Mystical Phoenix," in which dancers evoke an image of the sacred birds moving around above the clouds. Mr. Clements said, "We can understand why, for example the phoenix is so significant."

Mr. Clements was touched not only by the presentation of dances representing China's various ethnic groups, but by the spirituality as well. "A lovely mixture, too, of folk dances, that was superb. The more spiritual aspects too, that were all represented. The costumes--they were absolutely spectacular. We were amazed at the layers of costumes."

He said the show surpassed any that he had seen, and described the performances as "absolutely wonderful!"

Artist Intrigued and Uplifted by Singers

Joining the delighted audience was Ms. Dayle, an artist, "I think it looked wonderful, beautiful costumes, and I liked the men's dancing particularly, a wonderful dance to see. The women's skirts are really very elegant."

She commented on the unique backdrops, "The dances reflect what is on the back of the wall, and it's bringing the backdrop into what's happening on the front, on the stage," said Ms. Dayle.

"I loved the soprano, and the tenor too ... It's all uplifting. This is not like anything that I've come to see before."
