(Clearwisdom.net) On March 6, it rained in Taichung, Taiwan after having no rain for three months. Just as welcome as the rain, was the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company. The Hui-Sun Auditorium in National Chung Hsing University was full for DPA's performance. The audience enjoyed the show and highly praised it.

Member of Legislative Committee: DPA Show Should Be Promoted in These Difficult Times

Mr. Lin Tsang-min, Member of the Legislative Committee, watched the show for the first time. He thought it was a regular dance show before watching it. After watching it, he knew it was a feast of spirit, art, culture and education. He was amazed at how the DPA programs combined dance, music, and belief. He thinks this combination is very good and such good culture and education are worth promoting.

He pointed out, "Currently a financial crisis is occurring in the global village. Many people are panicking because the majority of people pursue material needs, but ignore spiritual needs. Looking at the ancient civilizations shown in the DPA performance, though material life is quite different from now, the people in ancient times had a happy life and promoted moral values. Modern people pursue a luxurious life, but do not pay attention to moral values and ethics. Actually, this may be the indirect reason for the financial crisis. At such a time of economic decline, spiritual life and culture should be stressed. DPA combines such graceful dancing and belief. It should be promoted and spread to have more people watch it."

Mr. Lin praised DPA's world tour. He said, "Wherever DPA goes, to the corners of the global village, it can promote traditional moral values. Chinese traditional dance, culture and religion are combined. This concept is very good. It is not only healthy but lets everyone be full of hope. We should invite more friends to watch this artistic performance."

After the show, Mr. Wang Tan-sheng, Director of the Taichung Construction Bureau, was reluctant to leave and said, "I am excited after seeing such a high-level show. The vocalists have special voices, very unique. I have never heard a voice such as that of contralto Yang Jiansheng, such a special vocalist." He also praised the tenors, "We often spend lots of money to invite foreign vocalists. Actually, Chinese songs are more attractive with such voices. I enjoyed the tenors' songs."

After watching the first half of the show, Mr. Wang admired the efforts of DPA in promoting righteous Chinese culture. He said, "Chinese traditional culture is truly profound. But for a long time, it has not been so well depicted. The DPA show has done that, including dancing and costumes. We thought that Chinese dancing was just the long sleeves of ladies. But the DPA show presents the long sleeves like a fan on one side, and a butterfly on the other side. It is very special. Even brushes are employed in the show."

He mentioned, "Modern people are busy with work, but we seldom ask ourselves what our inner hearts truly need. The DPA show reminds us, as in the vocalist's song, to think things over. From the dancing, we can see many things too. The distance between humankind and deities is very short, just depending on when humankind can awaken."

Mr. Wang thought that the DPA show was indeed great. Such a great show should be held in an even better theater. He said, "When the Taichung Grand Metropolitan Theater is completed in 2012, DPA can stage shows there. It will attract theater-goers from Taichung, all of Taiwan and even foreign tourists to watch."

Mr. Liu Kuo-Lung, a member of Taichung city council who has strongly supported the DPA show, watched it for the first time. Before DPA's arrival, he promoted the show in various workers' unions.

Mr. Liu said, "Chinese culture is [beneficial] for the whole world. The DPA show allows one to feel an unknown power, which calms people's hearts and minds." He was most impressed by the program Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution, showing a group of people who are persecuted, but continue to uphold their belief. He said, "I felt the eastern people's great tolerance. It is so delightful to obtain righteous fruit. I was so touched, deep in my heart." He thought that the persecution could be ended if people become aware and stand up against it.

Mr. Chiang Tsun-hsiung was named one of the ten best photographers in the world. He watched the DPA show last year and this year. He praised the DPA programs, saying they are carefully prepared and designed. To present a message within a few minutes is a hard task. So he thinks the DPA show is great.

Mr. Chiang thought this year's backdrops appear even more realistic. He said, "The program Monk Ji Gong Abducts the Bride is touching. The mountain suddenly collapsed and destroyed the whole village. The picture was so real. It is a great show. We all know the legend of Monk Ji Gong. The host gave an introduction before the show to help foreigners understand the background. It is very good."

From a photographer's perspective, Mr. Chiang praised DPA's color usage, saying it was very high level and must be designed by a superb designer. He said, "The program Welcoming Spring presents the blooming of various flowers. The backdrop scenery of flowers blooming was suddenly shown. It is a dramatic effect. It is very good."

Mr. Chiang often attends grand theater productions. He said the DPA show was the best among all he had watched. He hoped to have an opportunity to take photos of the DPA show.
