Professional Painter: Brings Out the Essence of Chinese Culture in the Most Miraculous Way

Chao Ming, retired professor from the Department of Arts and Design of the National HsinChu University of Education, was overwhelmed by the performance. Shen Yun presented the five thousand years of Chinese culture in short two hours, and Chao said that it "brings out the essence of the Chinese culture in the most miraculous way."

Chao specializes in calligraphy, Chinese painting, and watercolors. He adored Shen Yun's dances, colors, rhythms, and animated backdrop. "The backdrop combines static and dynamic scenes. When someone moved from the backdrop onto the stage and left the stage from the backdrop, it was almost unbelievable."

Chao found it amazing that Shen Yun could condense the entire scope of Chinese culture into its performance. There aren't many words, but the show is able to convey a great deal of the rich and profound Chinese culture. The show retells folk tales such as "The Poet's Vision" and "The Monkey King Triumphs" and imparts the idea of reincarnation into its dances and music. Chao thought these were the most unique parts of the show: "It's truly miraculous and indeed expressed the divine meaning of Chinese culture."

Song was very moved by the positive message of "Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution." He said he began to weep when Buddha met with the good person who was tortured to death. He was impressed with the delicate dances, costumes, music, and stage design.

Song believes it is meaningful and important to promote Chinese culture, including its history, allusions, and folk stories, to the rest of the world. For example, everyone knows the stories of "Mulan Joins the Battle" and "Monk Ji Gong Abducts the Bride." Song found it amazing that Shen Yun was able to tell the stories in so successfully in their short performances.

Government Official: The Shen Yun Show Helps People Understand China's Long History in a Short Time

Jang Hsiu-Chu, head of the HsinChu County Department of Education, was enthusiastic about the show. She believed Shen Yun put in a lot of effort to create the show and that those responsible must understand Chinese history very well because it presented the essence of five thousand years of Chinese history.

In her opinion, the young generation is not familiar with China's long history. "History needs to be passed down. Through visual arts such as Shen Yun's show, many people are able to understand the long history of China in a very short time. This is great and worth promoting."

Ms. Jang gave a lot of thoughtful consideration to "Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution." She thought Shen Yun was successful in combining spiritual beliefs with concern for human rights.
