Lai is 83 years old. He has won many art awards in his life and is currently a consultant and judge of many art institutes and competitions. Lai thought the design of backdrop on the stage was very creative, "It creates a beautiful transition." Lai also liked the costumes and rhythmic dances, "All parts are connected together very well. It's a rare high quality show and I am really moved."

Lai talked about the colors used on the costumes, "Every program has its own special colors. The style and the colors of the costumes in ethnic dances are terrific matches and preserve the pure essence of different ethnic groups."

Lai understood the deep meanings the show tries to convey, "It is refreshing to see ancient culture presented by dances and modern technology. This show is very creative compared to those I have seen before, including those in China. I believe everyone would be happy to see such a show."

The stage design caught Lai's attention, "The sceneries in the background are not just pictures but motion pictures. Combined with the dances, it was just a wonderful view."

"Beautiful!" Lai believed he had gained inspiration from watching the Spectacular.

Company CEO: Great Tolerance

Song Yun-Chien, CEO of an electronic machinery company, saw great tolerance in the variety of dances, "I saw cultures from many ethnic groups in China in a comprehensive way from the dances. The show delivers profound meanings of Chinese traditional culture."

The performance relaxed Song as he watched it, "The songs were nice. Listening to them made me feel really comfortable."

Song saw special charm in Shen Yun's dances, "I have seen Tibetan dances before but I felt strongly about the one in this show. The dancing was unique and contained both masculinity and gracefulness."

Professor of History: The Right Medicine for Today's Problems

Chang Yung-Tang is a professor in the Department of History of the National Tsing Hua University. He understands that the unity of nature and mankind is an important part of Chinese culture and he was pleased to see the Spectacular address this idea. "The first program 'The Five Millennia Begin' made it clear the relationship between God and mankind and the purpose of mankind. Through music and dance, Shen Yun expressed the idea of harmony between God and mankind, which is an essential part of Chinese culture."

Chang believed that for problems derived from atheism and technology development, and moral problems, "the right medicine would come from watching the Spectacular." "Every program carries an important message and presents the philosophy of harmony between mankind and God. That is why the stories are touching. For example, 'The Monkey King Triumphs' depicts how evil desires lead to destruction and how people need to be righteous."

Commenting on how Shen Yun's tickets sold out in many places around the world, Chang believed it was because the universal values delivered by the show isn't just the beauty of Chinese culture, but is "in fact beyond space and time."

Chang will introduce the show to his friends and students because "universal values as such should be eternal and acceptable for any belief or religion."

Philosophy Professor: Shen Yun Brings Us to a Higher Realm

Cheng His-Heng, assistant professor of the Graduate Institute of Philosophy of the National Tsing Hua University saw the Spectacular last year and he was still deeply impacted by the show this year. "It feels like the show has taken me to a higher realm. I mean it purifies your spirit to a higher level, which is an amazing feeling."

Cheng talked about the difference between the Spectacular and other shows, "It passes on special messages that are very positive and upright through dance, special costumes, and music. It delivers the truth and benevolence through the form of beautiful performances."
