(Clearwisdom.net) Shen Yun Performing Arts 2009 World Tour graced the stage at Oslo's renowned Konserthus for two packed shows held on March 14.

Ms. Anne-lise, a retired professional ballerina

Greatly impressed by the skills of the Shen Yun artists, was Ms. Anne-lise, a retired professional ballerina. "This is fantastic!" she exclaimed after seeing the evening's performance. As an authority on Western dance, she especially noted the movements of the dancers, their costumes, as well as the classical Chinese dance techniques mastered by the artists. Regarding the male dancers, Anne-lise suggested that professional male dancers in the West could emulate the unique techniques of this classical Chinese art form.

Ms. Anne-lise is also fascinated by the superlative body control and the foot movements in classical Chinese dance. "It is interesting to see that your footwork starts with the heels, contrary to classical ballet which is starting with the toes," she noted.

"You concentrate so much on the costumes--you are using the costumes to give us a fantastic experience," she added.

This Show Will Open Up Chinese Culture

Professor Helleland, an associate professor of Linguistics at a university in Oslo, joined the appreciative audience in welcoming Shen Yun Performing Arts to this ancient Norwegian city. Dr. Helleland said that he could "recognize universal [principles] of mysticism and the divine."

He added, "I think it was very interesting to watch these mythological events. [For example] the person was predicting the stone avalanche, but they didn't believe him. However, he succeeded in keeping them from harm. I think it was a very nice story."

Dr. Helleland was referring to the performance, "Monk Ji Gong Abducts the Bride." Monk Ji Gong predicts disaster, but no one believes him. In a seemingly irrational act, he kidnaps the bride in order to save the villagers.

Dr. Helleland thinks that a parallel situation may be happening today. "There are people who are warning others that something is about to happen. These people may often not be in the mainstream. But they have this sense of feeling that something is going to happen. Like in this case, he could warn the people and rescue their lives. He forced this woman to go with him and the others came after him, and so they were all saved. I think this was my favorite act in the traditional context."

Dr. Helleland added that he appreciated the wide variety of dances and music showcased within Shen Yun. "I thought it was breathtaking and beautiful! So many incredibly fine costumes. The colors, the beautiful dancing, and the music were impressive. It was like stepping into a different world! I believe this [show] will open up Chinese culture."
