Beijing Practitioners Imprisoned in Daxing District before Olympics
(Clearwisdom.net) On August 5, 2008, Beijing resident Ms. Wang Meiru told reporters that her sister Ms. Wang Huiling and brother-in-law Mr. Liu Zhenru were arrested before the Olympics for practicing Falun Gong. They were imprisoned at the Daxing District Detention Center.
Ms. Wang Meiru, 60, is a retiree in Beijing. She said that both her sister and brother-in-law are in their fifties and also retirees. At noon on July 24, 2008, several police officers ransacked their condo in the Wuxing Brewery, questioned them about whether they practice Falun Gong, and arrested them immediate after they both answered "yes".
She said that the police searched their home and left only an arrest warrant behind. Both of them were imprisoned at the Daxing District Detention Center. The center did not allow any family visits or parcel delivery to the detainees. The center only accepted money.
Ms. Wang said her sister and brother-in-law became better morally and had better temperaments after practicing Falun Gong. Her brother-in-law was especially good-natured. Their neighbors and former colleagues praised them for their improvement. She said, "There was totally no reason for the CCP to arrest them."
She continued angrily, "There is nothing wrong with my sister and brother-in-law believing in Falun Gong. The CCP is violating their human rights." She asked for the immediate release of her sister and brother-in-law and called for the world to pay attention to China's human rights situation.
