(Clearwisdom.net) On October 2 and 3, 2006, Carnegie-Mellon University (CMU) and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) joined to host the Cornerstone CMU ¡V UPMC Symposium 2006: The Dynamic Economies of Asia and Global Wellness ¡V Opportunities for Prosperity in the Pittsburgh Region. The attendees included Professor Thomas Starzl, regarded as the "father of transplantation surgery," the Prince of Belgium, diplomats, CEOs and medical experts. The organ transplant center of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is the largest of its kind in North America and has close relationship with many transplantation hospitals in China. Falun Dafa practitioners from Washington DC and the Midwest went to the UPMC and venues near the meeting to clarify the truth about the Chinese Communist Party harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners.

On the first day of the meeting, all attendees were invited to the Duquesne Club, the oldest and most prominent club in Pittsburgh. At dinnertime, people exchanged their views and suggestions to develop the local economy. The topics focused on how to utilize the advantages of human resources, technology, research and other resources, in order to take advantage of the opportunities of globalization, and increase business relations with China so as to develop the economy and technology of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas.

Dr. Wenyi Wang from New York gave a speech at a dinner party for CEOs, medical experts and diplomats. She pointed out that it is a good thing to promote economic and technology exchange between the West and East. But when doing business with China, a country of tyranny and where the rule of law is not respected, while emphasizing the market, making money and technology exchange, every investor and scientists must have a sense of conscience and of moral responsibility. One must not turn a blind eye to the injustices in China, but must bravely face it and condemn the Chinese Communist Party.

Dr. Wang said that if a government doesn't respect life and human rights, wealth and technology can be used to do evil things. Two recent examples were Yahoo providing personal information of a freelance reporter to Chinese authorities that resulted in him being jailed, and Google agreeing to filter information on the servers in China.

She continued that organ transplantation can save lives by doctors with conscience and morality but it can also be used to kill life and make huge profits by immoral doctors. Under the rule of the Chinese Communist Party, doctors can harvest organs from living people and sell them to organ transplantation patients.

On a website for the China International Organ Transplantation Center, the center claims that it can provide organs for patients from any country for a fixed price. For example, a cornea is US $30,000 and a heart is US $160,000. This indicates that China has a large living organ bank. Thousands of Falun Gong practitioners were jailed and their blood and tissue information was saved in a computer database to match patients seeking organ transplant. When they find a match, a process of cutting and killing starts.

Many Chinese websites openly declare that they can provide matching organs within a very short waiting time, often in only a couple weeks. From a medical standpoint, this raises many questions, as in other countries around the world, it often takes years before one can get a transplant. Two people with knowledge of the situation in China and many telephone investigations made to China by the Global Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong have substantiated the allegations that Falun Gong practitioners are the victims of illegal organ harvesting. Organ transplantation surgeries doubled every year since 2000 in mainland China, beginning shortly after the persecution of Falun Gong started.

In the question and answer session of the meeting, Dr. Pang from Washington DC used a question opportunity to introduce the Congressional Hearing of September 29 on the issue of Chinese Communist Party harvesting organs from live Falun Gong practitioners. He said it was as serious as the Holocaust and the only difference is that this time the Chinese Communist Party is covering it up more carefully. When the world is eyeing the Chinese market so intently, many people refuse to learn the truth of the human rights situation there. Dr. Pang said that this is very disappointing and it is the shame of the whole human world.

"When I heard that my fellow Chinese were treated so inhumanly, doctors cutting out their organs when they are alive, and then cremating them when they are still breathing, I can only cry." he said. Doctor Pang said that when the investigation goes deeper, more evidence will appear. Later, Congress will pass laws about it. He wanted more people to pay attention to this issue.

According to a report on American Daily News, about 40% of the death penalty criminals were executed by lethal injection in vans, known as the "Death Bus." A spokesperson for Amnesty International Hong Kong stated that the increase of executions on the "Death Bus" is because it is easier to take their organs there.

At the gate, practitioners passed out a report by David Kilgour and David Matas to every attendee and hoped that they will make their own judgment. Practitioners also clarified the truth to professor Thomas Starzl, telling him that the Chinese Communist Party is abusing his groundbreaking work in the area of organ transplantation and changing it from a surgery to save lives to one of killing.

Outside of the meeting, practitioners talked with organ transplantation experts.

Falun Dafa practitioners distributed a lot of materials on and off the campus during the meeting. Dr. Wenyi Wang accepted interviews from several local media outlets and gave a speech at a City Council meeting. She called on the people of Pittsburgh to be aware of the organ harvesting crime against Falun Gong practitioners in China and to condemn the Chinese Communist Party's atrocity.

Many practitioners also passed out a lot of truth-clarification materials around the Organ Transplantation Center. Many doctors, patients and passersby expressed their anger at the CCP atrocity. Some passersby expressed their concern that the University of Pittsburgh is still training organ transplant doctors for China.
