(Clearwisdom.net) On May 20, 2004, Ms. Li Xiulan of Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, was illegally arrested for practicing Falun Gong. Her home was searched. The Hongta District Court of Yuxi City illegally tried Ms. Li Xiulan on September 9, 2004. More details of Ms. Li's situation follow:

The Hongta District Court held a "trial" on September 9, 2004. The chief judge allowed Ms. Li Xiulan to speak. Ms. Li said, "I hope the chief judge, judges and public prosecutor can treat this trial justly." She also requested witnesses to be present.

After that, the public prosecutor raised the three charges against Ms. Li Xiulan including: 1) She had advocated Falun Gong to other teachers where she worked and verbally "assaulted" the national leaders between February and May of 2004; 2) She wrote the three words, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" on the blackboard of a sixth grade classroom in Huangcaoba Elementary School of Chunhe Town in May 2004; and 3) In May 2004, she wrote to four policemen at the Kunming Women's Labor Camp to clarify the truth of Falun Gong and the persecution and declared that "transformation" (1) is wrong.

The actual situation about the so-called charge of advocating Falun Gong to other teachers and "assaulting the national leaders" are as follows: Ms. Li Xiulan was transferred to Huangcaoba Elementary School because she practiced Falun Gong. The teachers in the school did not know about her situation, thus, Ms. Li told them about the details. Freedom of speech is a basic right that the Chinese Constitution grants each citizen. In the court, Ms. Li asked, "Who did I harm? Whose life did I threaten? Who lost his property due to me? If I have ever hurt anyone, I would like to be responsible to all debts and pay for all losses."

The entire proceeding was a flagrant violation of Li Xiulan's human rights.

About 30 Falun Dafa practitioners have been illegally sent to labor camp and prison in Yuxi City.

(1) "Transformation" refers to a practitioner renouncing Falun Gong under severe physical and mental pressure.
