(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Li Xindi, 43, was a mechanic at an auto repair factory in Zigong City, Sichuan Province.

In February 2000, Li went to Beijing to appeal. He was arrested and sent back to Zigong City Detention Center. In early 2002, he went to Beijing to appeal for a second time, and was again arrested and sent back to the Zigong Detention Center. Later he was illegally sentenced to "education through forced labor" and detained at the Xinhua Labor Camp in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province. He was tortured to death there between April and May of 2002. When his family examined his body, they found a hole in the back of his head. In order to shirk the responsibility, the labor camp claimed that he committed suicide.

When a Clearwisdom reporter called the Zigong Police Department on 86-813-4702024 to verify the death of Li Xindi, a policeman confirmed that Li died last year at the labor camp, but he claimed that Li committed suicide. When asked why there was a hole in Li's head, the policeman said that was because Li knocked his head against the wall. But the policeman did not explain how knocking one's head against the wall would leave a hole in the back of the head.
