Falun Gong's Worldwide Vigil For Those Tortured to Death in China Enters its Third Day

NEW YORK, January 13, 2001 (Falun Dafa Information Center)--Today marked the third day of a global appeal by practitioners and supporters of Falun Gong to curb a recent escalation in torture and killings of people who practice Falun Gong in China, which significantly increased in the weeks leading up to the new year -- twenty reports of those who died due to torture and mistreatment while in police custody surfaced in the last three weeks.
UK Practitioners Join Worldwide Three-Day Vigil
Practitioners in the United Kingdom joined thousands of others last night, in a 3-day worldwide vigil. This peaceful protest is to condemn the recent killing of 20 Falun Gong practitioners in 22 days, through mistreatment and torture whilst in police custody in China. Practitioners gathered outside of the Chinese Embassy in London and the Chinese Consulate in Manchester, to appeal against this horrific and barbaric display of violence. They practised the exercises and did the righteous thoughts meditation and lit candles in honour of the innocent practitioners who have died at the hands of the Chinese Government. Press conferences and the 3-Day Worldwide Vigil are being held in over 30 cities around the world, including New York, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Ottawa, Paris, Geneva, Stockholm, Taipei, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. Their aim is to make all kind-hearted people aware of the recent increase in arrests, killings and torture of innocent Falun Gong practitioners and to expose the criminals involved.
Gothenburg Post [Swedish newspaper]: Candlelight Vigil in Slottsskogen
Yesterday followers and practitioners of Falun Gong assembled late in the afternoon in Slottsskogen for a candlelight vigil.
The reason was that there has been a dramatic increase in the number of Falun Gong followers who have been killed in China during the last weeks. According to information from the Falun Gong Information Center, there have been reports of 20 followers killed in China during the last three weeks plus.
