Amnesty International on Friday rejected China's latest human rights report as a whitewash and accused Beijing of waging the largest crackdown on peaceful dissent for more than 10 years.

Since last December, over 100 practitioners have been arrested and detained for having gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. We were from all walks of life, including aged people in 70s and some teenagers.

[1] Mr. Liu Xu-guo Tortured to Death
Mr. Liu Xu-guo and other three practitioners from Zhou-cheng City went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in last October. They got arrested and detained in the local detention center and had suffered all kind of tortures. Three months later, they were transferred to Ji-ning detention center. They started hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. Four days later, they started to lose strength and suffer dehydration. Their lives ...
[Guangdong, February 21, 2000] Group Practice Interfered By Police in Meizhou City
At 9am of February 9, about 2,000 practitioners from Meizhou City of Guangdong Province gathered in the central park of Meizhou City attempting to practice Falun Gong exercises together. Crowds of people were on the street. However, the police officers had already started to guard the street since the very early morning, so practitioners were not able to do the exercises. Some practitioners were arrested.

On February 19, 2000, dozens of practitioners from Australia practiced Falun Gong exercises on the lunar pier in Sydney and delivered an open letter to Mr. Annan, the secretary of UN. They also had a peaceful parade on the George Street
To celebrate Teacher Li' public lectures in Pasadena and Los Angeles last year, the Southern California Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference was held on February 20, 2000 on the campus of Caltech. Although it was raining that day, about 100 practitioners and interested people from Pasadena, Los Angeles, San Diego and other places attended the conference.
