A man in Huairou District, Beijing, passed away in the spring of 2023, after enduring years of harassment for his faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org recently learned. He was 83.
Mr. He Xingnong worked at a coal mine in his younger years and later started his own business. The years of hazardous work left him in poor health, and he frequented local hospitals.
During the 1990s, a senior introduced Falun Gong to Mr. He while visiting him in the hospital. He didn’t pay much attention to it at first. One day, however, he noticed a large area of red light shielding the Falun Gong exercise site near his home. Having grown up as an atheist, this was a big shock to him.
He became interested and began to read the Falun Gong book he had received from that senior. Soon after, he was surprised to find that many of his chronic illnesses had disappeared. He was full of energy and walked lightly, like a young man. In addition to the physical improvement, he also changed his hot temper and took personal gain lightly.
After the Chinese communist regime ordered the persecution in 1999, Mr. He tried his best to raise awareness of the atrocity and was repeatedly targeted as a result.
On April 20, 2009, Mr. He, then in his 70s, was arrested by several officers, including Li Xiaogang. After an intense interrogation, he was transferred to the local detention center. En route, he fell unconscious and was taken to the hospital. The doctor determined that he had suffered a heart attack. Not wanting to take responsibility, officer Li called Mr. He’s family and fled the hospital. Mr. He was operated on and then transferred to a bigger hospital, where the doctors installed four stents in his heart.
The police harassed and monitored Mr. He and his family in April 2016, causing them tremendous stress.
As soon as Mr. He and his wife returned home from a walk at 7 a.m. on April 20, 2017, over 10 officers from the Quanhe Police Station broke in. They called in another 10 officers and searched every corner of Mr. He’s home. They confiscated over 50 of his Falun Gong books, photos of Falun Gong’s founder, and three media players. No officers produced proper documents for the raid. Terrified by the police, Mr. He had a stroke. The police thus left without arresting him.
Despite Mr. He’s health condition, the police continued to harass him, further deteriorating his health. He passed away in the spring of 2023.
