(Minghui.org) At least 15 Falun Gong practitioners in Xianning City, Hubei Province, are still detained for their faith, according to information collected by Minghui.org. Below are the details of their cases.
Mr. Zhou Guoqiang, around 59 years old and a former employee of China’s Industrial and Commercial Bank, is serving 8.5 years at the Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang County, Hubei Province. He was arrested in Wuhan (capital city of Hubei Province) on December 26, 2018, sentenced to 8.5 years and fined 30,000 yuan on January 25, 2021.
Mr. Liu Shehong and his wife Ms. Zhao Xiujuan were arrested on September 4, 2019. Mr. Liu was sentenced to seven and a half years and Ms. Zhao was sentenced to seven years, around December 3, 2020. Mr. Liu is incarcerated in Fanjiatai Prison and Ms. Zhao is in the Wuhan City Women’s Prison.
Ms. Li Yanhong, 71, was arrested in June 2022, after the police accused her of working with other practitioners to make phone calls about Falun Gong four years ago. They attempted to force her to expose other practitioners by promising to release her unconditionally. She refused to comply and the local court sentenced her to seven years within a few days. She is incarcerated in the Wuhan City Women’s Prison since.
Mr. Chen Jianping, in his 50s, was arrested in July 2023, after a surveillance camera recorded him distributing Falun Gong materials. He was sentenced to three years by the Xian’an District Court in June 2024. He is incarcerated in the Fanjiatai Prison.
Mr. Wu Yuxun (also known as Wu Zonglun), 71, is a retired worker with the Xian’an District Railroad Transportation Management Bureau. He was arrested on August 29, 2023, while talking to people about Falun Gong at the Xian’an District Railroad Station. He was sentenced to three years and fined 3,000 yuan by the Xian’an District Court on December 8, 2023. He appealed to the Xianning City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold his original verdict. He was admitted to the Fanjiatai Prison on October 23, 2024.
Mr. Zhang Jian, 72, a retired chemistry teacher, was arrested on September 22, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. He appeared in the Xian’an District Court in June 2024 and was sentenced to three years. He appealed to the Xianning City Intermediate Court, but lost the case. He was sent to the Fanjiatai Prison on September 27, 2024.
Ms. He Guihong, in her 50s, was arrested on April 23, 2024. She was sentenced to three years and seven months by the Xian’an District Court in March 2025. She was sent to the Wuhan City Women’s Prison after she lost her appeal case.
Ms. Cheng Weiping, in her 50s, was arrested on April 23, 2024, by Zhang Haibing and Min Jian of the Xian’an District Domestic Security Office. She appeared in the Xian’an District Court in December 2024 and was sentenced to three years. She was sent to the Wuhan City Women’s Prison on March 17, 2025, after the Xianning City Intermediate Court denied her appeals case.
Ms. Chen Jinxiu, in her 60s, was arrested at home on April 2, 2025, and held at the Jiayu County Detention Center. After a hearing by the Jiayu County Court on May 28, she was taken to a drug rehabilitation center and has been held there since.
Ms. Zhou Chunxiang, in her 60s, was arrested on June 27, 2025. She appeared in the Chongyang County Court on November 26, 2025, and is currently awaiting verdict at the Chongyang County Detention Center.
Mr. Li Xuehong, in his 50s, a former employee of the Xianning Cigarette Factory, was arrested in late September 2025, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. The police continued to monitor him after releasing him on bail. He was arrested again shortly after, for posting information about Falun Gong online. After 15 days at the Xianning City Lockup, he was transferred to the Xianning City Detention Center on criminal detention in late October.
Ms. He Ping, in her 60s, and a retired middle school English teacher, was arrested around April 2024 and later secretly sentenced to four years by the Jiayu County Court. Her family was kept in the dark of her case status and they still don’t know where she is detained.
Mr. Zhou Hongda and his wife, Ms. Yang Dongxiang, in her 70s, were arrested on September 18, 2025, in their rental property in Hanchuan City. They are currently held at a facility in Wuhan.
