Additional Persecution News from China – August 24, 2025 (13 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 53 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Fujian City, Fujian Province] Five Practitioners Face Second Trial

Ms. Liu Meiying, Ms. He Qiuhong, Ms. Chen Weifang, Ms. Lin Ru, and Ms. Yi Xuan were tried by the Yueqing County Court on July 15, 2025. Their second hearing has been scheduled for September 9, 2025.

2. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhang Li, Ms. Sun Yingxia, and two other practitioners were arrested in early August 2025.

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Twenty-six Practitioners and One Family Member Arrested in One Day

Twenty-six practitioners and a family member in Acheng District and Shuangcheng District were arrested on August 21, 2025, for printing messages about Falun Gong on paper currency. The police monitored them for months before the arrests.

They are Ms. Jin Changshu, Ms. Niu Guixia, Ms. Li Haiyan, Ms. Li Hongmei, Ms. Cheng Liyun, Mr. Liu Jianwei, Mr. Yu Junjie, Mr. Liu Yuanjie, Ms. Zhou Chuanying and her husband Mr. Yang, Mr. Liu Guohui and his non-practitioner wife, Ms. Li Kuanxiu, Ms. Chen Xiuhua, Ms. Xu Jingying, Ms. Yan Xiumei and her son, Ms. Shen Shufang, Ms. Liu Yaozhen, Ms. Liang Yan, Ms. Zhao Xihua, Ms. Liu Xijin, Mr. Shi Zuosheng, Ms. Li Yanwen, Mr. Gong Zun, a male practitioner in his late 30s, and a female practitioner who’s name isn’t known.

Mr. Liu Guohui, his wife, Ms. Liu Yaozhen, Ms. Jin, and another practitioner whose name isn’t known have been released. The others are still detained.

4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Shuhua Arrested

Ms. Wang Shuhua was arrested at noon on August 23, 2025, after someone reported her for talking to passersby about the persecution of Falun Gong.

5. [Guyuan County, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Jianying Detained

Ms. Li Jianying was arrested by Guyuan County Domestic Security Division officers on the morning of August 18, 2025, after someone reported her for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The officers ransacked her home, seized her Falun Gong books, printouts and two hats. They said that she was wearing the hats while being recorded by surveillance cameras. Her family was informed by Bai Zhiwei, captain of the Domestic Security Division, about her detention in the evening and asked to pick her up at Zhangjiakou City Lookup on August 30.

6. [Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Four Practitioners Arrested, Three Remain Detained

Ms. Zheng Yan, Ms. Zheng’s husband, Chen Ziyou (gender unknown), and a female practitioner whose name wasn’t known, were arrested on July 16, 2025 by officers from the Xiangzhou District Domestic Security Division and the Jiuzhougang Police Station. Their homes were ransacked. Chen was released the same day. The other three practitioners are still detained.

7. [Guyuan County, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Dongfeng’s Home Ransacked

Mr. Wang Dongfeng works for the Guyuan County State Taxation Administration. Several officers broke into his home at midnight on August 21, 2025, and seized his computers, printers, and Falun Gong books. He managed to escape without being arrested.

8. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Leng Xiaocheng Sentenced

Mr. Leng Xiaocheng, 38, was arrested on April 11, 2024, by police from Jinan and Bengbu City, Anhui Province. He was later taken to Bengbu and held at the Bengbu City Detention Center. It’s not clear why the police in Bengbu were involved in his case.

Mr. Leng appeared in the Huaishang District Court in Bengbu on June 24, 2025, and was sentenced to 17 months in prison. He is scheduled to be released on September 10, 2026.

9. [Gaotang County, Shandong Province] Ms. Jin Guizhi Harassed

Ms. Jin Guizhi, in her 80s, was harassed at home on the afternoon of August 23, 2025 by Houguoxi Village secretary Guo Jiandong and village accountant Lu Guanghong. They claimed that she had been sentenced to three months in prison, ordered her to pay a 480-yuan fine and sign a paper. She refused to comply. They threatened to deduct the money from her pension payment.

10. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Qi Shuyun and Ms. Qi Shulan Detained

Two sisters, Ms. Qi Shuyun and Ms. Qi Shulan, were arrested by Qixing Police Station officers on August 15, 2025. They were given 15 days at the Mudanjiang City Detention Center.

11. [Tianjin] Ms. Wei Sanmei Admitted to Prison

Ms. Wei Sanmei was arrested on July 12, 2024 and sentenced to 5.5 years by the Dongli District Court after a hearing on November 12, 2024. She was admitted to the Tianjin Women’s Prison in early August 2025.

12. [Jianyang City, Sichuan Province] Five Practitioners Harassed

Mr. Chen Zhongzhi, in his 80s, was harassed at home at noon on July 12, 2025, by Li Guangquan and two other officers from the Dongxi Police Station. They seized his Falun Gong books, printouts, and other items. Around the same time, they also arrested Ms. Wu Bangrong and forcibly drew her blood. They also ransacked the home of a third practitioner, Ms. Zhong, and seized 2,000 yuan in cash; they threatened to sentence her if she told other practitioners about the raid.

Ms. Huang Lizhen of Guilin Village has been repeatedly harassed and had her home ransacked over the past few months.

Practitioner Yan, first name and gender unknown, of Pingwu Town, was harassed at home by officers and community clerks at an unknown time. Because Yan did not open the door for the police, they broke in by force.

13. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Han Jianying Detained

Ms. Han Jianying, a 52-year-old doctor, was arrested at home by four officers from the Jianxi District Police Department in early August 2025. The police deceived her into opening the door by pretending to be plumbers, saying that her downstairs neighbor had a water leak in their ceiling. As soon as she opened the door, they barged in and seized a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, computers, media players, cell phones, and other items. Ms. Han was detained for 15 days.
