(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners across China are facing intensified arrests and harassment ahead of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) massive military parade scheduled for September 3, 2025.
The CCP regularly targets Falun Gong practitioners ahead of major events or anniversaries in order to prevent them from taking those opportunities to raise awareness about the persecution that has been going on for the past 26 years.
Beijing
Ms. Deng, 85, found herself being followed by two security officers whenever she went out over the past week. She said to them, “The communist regime has guns, cannon, and an army. Why are you afraid of an 85-year-old woman like me?” The officers remained silent.
Other practitioners in the area also reported being harassed at home and videotaped by the police. Some residential workers ordered that practitioners not read certain news online.
Shanghai
Starting on August 26, 2025, the police and/or residential staffers began to monitor certain practitioners around the clock. They said it would last for nine days, until the military parade ends on September 3. The police even became very nervous when these practitioners’ family members went out.
Jilin Province
Between 30 and 40 practitioners were arrested or harassed in Dehui City on August 28, 2025. The arrested practitioners included Mr. Cui Tao, Ms. Sun Liqing, Ms. Guo Shulan, Ms. Wang Xiuqin, Ms. Sun Yuxia, Ms. Sun Shuqing, and two practitioners whose names aren’t known. Mr. Cui, Ms. Sun Liqing, Ms. Guo and Ms. Wang have been released; the other practitioners’ situations aren’t clear. The harassed practitioners included Mr. Qu Zhonghe and his wife Ms. Song Benqin.
Heilongjiang Province
The police in Jiamusi City monitored, harassed and arrested practitioners in August 2025.
Ms. Zheng Guangzhen was arrested at home on August 4, 2025. After taking her to the Qianjin Police Department, several officers returned to ransack her home. She was released at 6 p.m. that day. The police said they may summon her at any time in the near future.
Six officers from the Jiao District Domestic Security Office showed up at Mr. Wang Zhiyou’s home on August 5, 2025. They suspected him of pouring paint over a poster board with content smearing Falun Gong. When his wife, Ms. Zhao Yuxiang, questioned the police as to whether they had a search warrant, one officer replied that they could produce one at a later time.
Ms. Li Huihui and her grandmother, Ms. Qiu Zhiyun, were arrested on August 6, by Jiadong Police Station officers. The police searched their shared residence and confiscated a number of personal belongings.
A practitioner’s family member was ordered by the Fendou Police Station on August 7 to monitor the practitioner’s daily activities. The police also demanded that property management personnel in the practitioner’s neighborhood record when he left home and returned each day. They told the family that the practitioner wasn’t allowed to move around at will during the military parade in Beijing.
Sichuan Province
Xichang City
The police installed a surveillance camera facing Ms. Shao Yunxiu’s home on August 27, 2025, to monitor her daily activities.
Eight officers raided Ms. Zhang Yutao’s home on the morning of August 29, 2025. It’s not clear whether Ms. Zhang was arrested.
Ms. Yang Yuqiong was arrested at home on August 29, 2025. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books and informational materials. Her husband’s safe was also broken into. She was held at the Dongcheng Police Station.
Guanghan City
A practitioner was harassed by armed officers on the morning of August 27, 2025, when he was having tea at a tea house. An officer from the Xiangyang Town Police Station went to the tea house on August 29 and ordered the owner not to accept Falun Gong practitioners as guests.
Another tea house was also harassed in mid-August 2025. The police took photos of the practitioners who were having tea there and demanded that the owner not sell drinks to Falun Gong practitioners.
Shandong Province
Ten practitioners in Shouguang City, including Ms. Fu Jingchun, Mr. Zhang Pengde, Mr. Li Shengxing, Ms. Yang Shifang, Ms. Li Aihua, Ms. Han Xinying, Ms. Chu Lijun and her husband, Ms. Dou, and Ms. Sun, were arrested August 26-27, 2025. Currently, Ms. Yang, Ms. Li, Ms. Han, Mr. Zhang, and Ms. Chun and her husband have been released.
Around the same time, Ms. Zhang Shufeng, Mr. Xiao Zhenguo, Ms. Sun Guizhen, Mr. Zhang Zhaoyu, Ms. Yang Ruiying, Ms. Sang Fengqin, were harassed. Some had their homes ransacked. The police stayed outside Ms. Zhang’s home for over one hour when she refused to open the door. While harassing Ms. Yang, the police attempted to take her to the police station, but relented given her strong protest.
Shanxi Province
Practitioners in Taigu District, Taiyuan City, were subjected to frequent harassment in August 2025.
Shaanxi Province
Ms. Han Qiuli in Xi’an City was harassed at home on the afternoon of August 29, 2025, by Zhang Xiaowei of the Hujiamiao Police Station and five other community workers.
Hubei Province
Mr. Rao Maomao, in her 60s and of Xishui County, was arrested at home on August 25, 2025, by four officers from the Qingquan Town Police Station. Her Falun Gong books and other personal items were confiscated. She was detained for 15 days.
The community workers also went around town and tore down stickers that practitioners had put up exposing the crimes of the CCP.
