(Minghui.org) Three women in Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, were recently sentenced to prison for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Lin Suzhen, born in October 1956, was given one and a half years. Ms. Jiang Biyin, born in September 1942, received one year. Liying (last name unknown) was sentenced to a six-month term.
The three women were arrested at Ms. Lin’s home at around 3 p.m. on January 21, 2025, while studying Falun Gong teachings along with Ms. Jiang Xi’e. Ms. Lin, 68, used to suffer from a stubborn skin disease which caused redness, swelling, pain, and itching of her feet and legs, but her symptoms quickly disappeared after she began practicing Falun Gong. Having had a positive experience with Falun Gong, she held firm to her faith despite the ongoing persecution and invited fellow practitioners to study Falun Gong teachings together.
Officers from the Xinxing Police Station broke in that day and took the four practitioners to their respective homes for a raid. Ms. Lin’s Falun Gong books were confiscated. The police didn’t find any Falun Gong related materials at Ms. Jiang Biyin and Ms. Jiang Xi’e’s homes.
An insider revealed that Liying was recorded by street cameras while putting up posters about Falun Gong. The police followed her for a few days, before arresting her and other practitioners at Ms. Lin’s home.
All four practitioners were taken to the Jieyang City Detention Center. Ms. Jiang Xi’e was released 15 days later, and the other three practitioners remained detained and were recently convicted (exact time unknown).
Ms. Jiang Biyin Previously Arrested While Reading Falun Gong Books with Another Group of Practitioners
Ms. Jiang Biyin, nearly 83, recovered from anemia, back pain, uterine tumor, kidney stones, and dizziness after she took up Falun Gong in 1998. She subsequently became energetic and was able to care for her young grandson and elderly mother-in-law with ease. Her latest sentencing came after she finished serving a six-month prison term.
Ms. Jiang was previously arrested on June 14, 2020, while studying Falun Gong books with eight other practitioners. She was released on bail the next day and sentenced to six months by the Jiedong District Court in November 2022. The police took her back into custody at the Jiedong District Detention Center on June 13, 2023 to serve time.
The other eight practitioners arrested with Ms. Jiang in June 2020 were also sentenced to prison, with the longest term being nine years. One of them, Ms. Yao Jingjiao, was taken to the Jiedong District Detention Center on May 5, 2023 to serve a three-year term. She was transferred to the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison in early July 2023 and released in serious condition on October 24, 2024. She died a month later on November 20. She was 84 years old.
