(Minghui.org) The Hebei Province Women’s Prison has been jailing local women for their faith in Falun Gong, since the communist regime launched a nationwide campaign against Falun Gong in July 1999.
The prison authorities subject practitioners to intensive brainwashing and various forms of abuse. In recent years, at least one practitioner was confirmed to have died as a result of abuse in the prison. Another practitioner recently finished serving a three-year term. Five other practitioners are still serving sentences of various lengths.
Ms. Li Guibin, of Funing County, was sentenced to four years in July 2019. She was tortured to critical condition at the Hebei Province Women’s Prison and released on medical parole. She died days later on April 16, 2023. She was 80.
Ms. Wen Qingfang, a 59-year-old from Qian’an City, served a three-year term at the Hebei Province Women’s Prison, where she was brutally tortured and became incapacitated at one point. She completed her prison term on July 31, 2025.
Ms. Wang Ruiling, a 71-year-old from Tangshan City, is serving an eight-year term. She was beaten daily and force-fed unknown drugs. She was eventually driven insane and cried and screamed every day.
Ms. Hong Yanrong, 72, was arrested on July 15, 2023. She was recently admitted to the prison to serve an unknown term. She is currently held at Division 14 and subjected to strict management.
Ms. Hu Hui, 58 and of Xingtai City, is serving a four-year term. She is set to be released in July 2027. She previously served a three-year term at the same prison.
Ms. Hu Jinfeng, 45 and of Baoding City, was arrested in Beijing on July 27, 2022, and later sentenced to four years. She was transferred from the Tianhe Prison in Beijing to the Hebei Province Women’s Prison on November 11, 2024.
Ms. Zhang Ximei, a 58-year-old resident of Baoding City, is serving a 3.5-year term. Her term is set to end in July 2027. She previously served a prison term of three years and two months between 2019 and 2022.
