(Minghui.org) On July 19, 2025, Swedish Falun Gong practitioners held a peaceful protest in front of the Chinese Embassy in Stockholm and the city center.
Swedish Parliament member Nima Gholam Ali Pour and Gothenburg Deputy Mayor and co-chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC), Elisabeth Lann, issued statements in support of Falun Gong practitioners in their fight against the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for the past 26 years. Numerous accounts have described practitioners enduring hardships and torture, including allegations of forced organ harvesting.
“The Chinese Communist Regime Is One of the Most Brutal Dictatorships in Our Time, and Its Ambitions Extend Far Beyond National Borders.”
Swedish Member of Parliament N. G. A. Pour and the full statement.
Parliament member Nima Gholam Ali Pour stated: “The Chinese Communist regime is one of the most brutal dictatorships of our time. It is a regime that systematically imprisons dissidents, persecutes religious and ethnic minorities, and commits abuses on a scale that the world has chosen to ignore for too long.
"And for over two decades, Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted, imprisoned, tortured and in many cases killed, simply for practicing a peaceful faith that the Communist Party cannot control.”
He stated: “In China, there is no free press, no independent rule of law and no possibility to express dissenting opinions, a digital surveillance system controls citizens in every detail. Every thought, every word, every action that does not suit the regime can be punished.
"But the regime’s ambitions do not stop at the country’s borders. The Chinese Communist regime seeks to exert influence over other countries through threats, economic blackmail and control over businesses, media and academia.
"We must never give in to this. Appeasing dictatorships has never led to peace, only to more oppression.
“Democracies must stand united against the tyranny of the Communist Party. Human rights, freedom of expression and national independence are non-negotiable values, they must be defended, always and everywhere.”
The World Must Condemn and Stop the Chinese Communist Party’s Defamation, Harassment, and Persecution of Falun Gong in Mainland China and Overseas
E. Lann, a member of the Gothenburg City Council and co-chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China, and the full statement.
Elisabeth Lann is the Deputy Mayor of Gothenburg and one of the co-chairs of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC). In her statement she said, “For too long, the Communist regime in China has been able to perpetrate horrific abuses against various groups. In 1999, Falun Gong was banned. Since then, practitioners in China and around the world have been subjected to abuse and persecution.
"The world cannot stand by and watch this happen! The right to organize and practice one’s faith is a fundamental human right that the Chinese regime systematically violates.
"This cannot continue without the world protesting and holding the dictatorial regime accountable for these unjust abuses.
"The Chinese regime deserves the world’s condemnation for the way it persecutes and spreads lies about Falun Gong practitioners in China and around the world. The harassment and persecution must stop!”
