(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Guifen from Jinan City, Shandong Province, was sentenced to three and a half years because she practices Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.

The wrongful conviction of Ms. Liu Guifen (who also goes by Liu Guifang) stemmed from her arrest at noon on May 13, 2020, while on her way home. Earlier that day she distributed Falun Gong informational materials and was recorded by surveillance cameras. Three officers from the Xinzhuang Town Police Station, including Hou Qing, seized her as she was approaching home.

Another group of officers raided Ms. Liu’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, portrait of Falun Gong’s founder, DVD player, music player, two wagons and cash.

Ms. Liu was forced to give urine and blood samples at the police station. After being interrogated for hours, she was released at midnight.

Agents from the Gangcheng District Police Department, the Xinzhuang Town Police Station, and the Gangcheng District Procuratorate took Ms. Liu to the Gangcheng District Court on January 13, 2022 to attend a hearing. She had severe hearing loss and couldn’t hear what was said during the trial. Her son told her the prosecutor threatened to sentence her to seven years.

Ms. Liu was eventually sentenced to three and a half years around February 2022 and admitted to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison (located in Jinan) on March 1, 2022. The now-79-year-old is set to be released around September 2025.
