(Minghui.org) A Changchun City, Jilin Province, resident completed a 1.5-year prison term on August 16, 2024 for her faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.

Ms. Wang Yafen, then 71, was arrested on February 17, 2023, while talking to people about Falun Gong. The arresting officers were from either Tuanjie Police Station or the Donghu Police Station. They raided her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and portrait of Falun Gong’s founder.

After 15 days of detention at an unknown facility, Ms. Wang was transferred to the Changchun City First Detention Center (located in Xinglongshan Town). She was later sentenced to one and a half years with a 5,000-yuan fine.

Ms. Wang was released on August 16, 2024. While she survived abuse in prison, Ms. Fu Lanfen, who was arrested together with her and sentenced to three years, died on August 4, 2024, four days after being released on parole unconscious.

Prior to her latest persecution episode, Ms. Wang was previously targeted for her faith multiple times. She was arrested in October 2014 and detained until October 26 that year. Officers from the Jiujiao Police Station pried open her door on the night of November 3, 2018 and arrested her. They detained her for 15 days. After another arrest at home on September 27, 2019, Ms. Wang was detained for five days.
