Additional Persecution News from China – May 22, 2025 (9 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 15 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Mr. Wei Jiuxiang, in His 80s and Blind, Arrested

Mr. Wei Jiuxiang, from Maquan Village, Duozhuang Town, was arrested in late May 2025. Mr. Wei, in his 80s, has been blind and incapacitated for several years. Despite his condition, the local 610 Office agents have been harassing him on a regular basis in the past few years.

2. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Yin Fengwen Arrested

Practitioner Yin Fengwen was arrested on May 8, 2025. Eight officers ransacked Yin’s home, leaving the place in a complete mess.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Liu Feng Held in Brainwashing Center

Guo Tieshan, the head of the Nanguan District 610 Office, set up a brainwashing center in a local hotel on January 26, 2024, to persecute practitioners. Practitioner Liu Feng is still being held in the facility.

4. [Tianjin] Several Practitioners Arrested

Practitioner Hou, first name unknown, from Beizhakou Town, Jinnan District, was studying Falun Gong teachings with another practitioner at home on May 12, 2025, when more than 10 officers stormed in. They confiscated all of Hou’s Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. Hou was not taken away due to Hou’s mobility issues in the legs. The other practitioner was arrested and released later that day.

A day later on May 13, Ms. Liu and two practitioners from Beizhakou Town were also arrested while studying Falun Gong books together. The police claimed that they had been following Ms. Liu for over 10 days, after she was spotted distributing Falun Gong materials.

5. [Tianjin] Ms. Li Shuping Forced to Live Away from Home to Hide from the Police

Ms. Li Shuping and her family have been frequently harassed during major holidays, political events or anniversaries related to Falun Gong in the past few years. The police often ordered her and her family to give up practicing Falun Gong and write guarantee statements. Ms. Li refused to cooperate. She has been forced to live away from home to hide from the police.

6. [Xinbin County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Cui Yumei Arrested

Officers from Xinbin Town Police Station went to Ms. Cui Yumei’s home on May 12, 2025, and ransacked the place. The police officers said they suspected her of putting up Falun Gong materials after seeing her on surveillance cameras. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, among other items. Ms. Cui was taken to the police station and released four hours later.

7. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. He Yulian and Ms. Gu Suhua Detained

Ms. He Yulian, 55, from Pengzhou City, currently lives with her daughter in Wenjiang District, Chengdu City. She and Ms. Gu Suhua, who lives in the same residential community, went to Qinglongwan vegetable market in Wenjiang District on the morning of April 15, 2025 to clarify the facts about Falun Gong. They were recorded by surveillance cameras talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing materials.

The police followed both women home. Officers from the Gongping Police Station arrested Ms. He at the gate of her residential community on the morning of April 18. They confiscated all of her Falun Gong books, two laptops, two printers, 50 brochures, and two cell phones. She was the taken to Wenjiang District Detention Center and detained for 13 days. She was released on bail on May 1.

Ms. Gu again went to the Yongning Town farmers market in Wenjiang District, on the morning of April 18, to talk to people about Falun Gong. She was also arrested by officers from the Gongping Police Station. She has been detained at the Wenjiang District Detention Center since.

8. [Wangdu County, Hebei Province] Ms. Yu Shikun’s Son Mr. Liu Sen Arrested and Held in Beijing

Ms. Yu Shikun, her daughter Ms. Liu Meili, and son-in-law Mr. An Chaoxu were arrested between April and June 2024. They were sentenced by the Mentougou District Court in Beijing around April 2025. Ms. Yu was sentenced to one and a half years in prison and fined 2,000 yuan. Ms. Liu was sentenced to two years and fined 2,000 yuan. Mr. An was given two years with a three-year probation. He was released on April 3, 2025.

Before the trio were sentenced, Ms. Yu’s son, Mr. Liu Sen, was harassed and intimidated by Sun Dong and Han Dong of the Domestic Security Division, because of his efforts to seek justice for his sister and mother. He filed a complaint with the Mentougou District Procuratorate against the police, only to be put on the wanted list.

On May 6, 2025, Mr. Liu turned himself in to the police in Jiacun Town, Wangdu County. He was transferred to Beijing by officer Sun on the same day. His father called the Mentougou Police Station to ask about his status, but was stonewalled.

Mr. Liu’s father hired a lawyer to represent him. While the father was driving to Beijing to visit Mr. Liu on May 20, highway security personnel stopped him, searched his car and confiscated a copy of Mr. Liu’s complaint against the police in the trunk. The security personnel forced him to drive back towards home, before returning his ID to him. He had to drive additional 5 hours in order to take a detour to Beijing.

9. [Beijing] Ms. Xia Chunfeng Monitored

Ms. Xia Chunfeng from the Changying area of Chaoyang District was monitored from the early morning of April 22 to the evening of April 25, 2025 by four people, who were stationed at her doorstep 24 hours a day in two shifts. The same people stayed outside of her home to monitor her around the clock again between May 10 and 13, 2025.

The April harassment was related to the 26th anniversary of 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners’ appeal at Chinese Communist Party’s central government compound, demanding a peaceful environment to practice their faith. The harassment in May came around the World Falun Dafa Day, the anniversary when Falun Gong was introduced to the public.
