65-Year-Old Shanxi Woman Sentenced to 4 Years for Practicing Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Jinzi, 65, from Pingding County, Shanxi Province, was sentenced to four years for practicing Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned in June 2025.

Ms. Zhang was arrested on November 25, 2024, by four officers from the Pingding County Police Department who broke into her home. They targeted her after receiving a tip that she distributed Falun Gong informational materials at a local school. Her computer, cell phone, Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings were confiscated.

The police moved Ms. Zhang from the Yangquan City Detention Center to the Yangquan City Brainwashing Center (located in the Yangquan City Hotel) on December 3, 2024. She was held there for one month. It’s not clear whether she was released on bail after that.

Ms. Zhang was issued a formal arrest warrant at an unknown time. The Pingding County Court later sentenced her to four years. Other details of her indictment, trial, and sentencing are unknown.

Besides Ms. Zhang, a few other local practitioners were also convicted by the same court in recent years. Ms. Zhang Qiaorun and Ms. Shi Jun’e were each sentenced to one year on January 2, 2021. Ms. Mu Xindi and Ms. Xi Xiulin were sentenced to seven months and ten months, respectively, in January 2021. Ms. Xi was allowed to serve time outside of prison. Ms. Li Xiulian was sentenced to one year on March 4, 2021. Ms. Zhang Ruiping was sentenced to three and a half years in late 2023. Ms. Li Guilin was sentenced to two years on March 27, 2024.
