(Minghui.org) A displaced Beijing woman in her early 60s was arrested in mid-May 2025, and is now being held at the Fangshan District Detention Center, for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Wang Shuhui’s arrest came one year after she was forced to live away from home after the police threatened to arrest her because of her efforts to seek justice for her daughter, Ms. Sun Shuang.

Ms. Sun, 36, also a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on November 22, 2023 for distributing calendars bearing information about Falun Gong. She was indicted in April 2024 and sentenced to five years in prison on March 20, 2025.

Ms. Wang’s Past Persecution

Ms. Wang was arrested on January 20, 2005 by officers from the Fangshan District Domestic Security Division, Hebei Town Police Station, and Nancheying Village Committee. She was held at the Fangshan District Detention Center for an unknown amount of time.

Ms. Wang was arrested again on July 11, 2008, by officers from the Fangshan District Domestic Security Division and 610 Office. Her husband, who does not practice Falun Gong, was also arrested.

Ms. Wang was reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in Haidian District on the afternoon of January 1, 2012, and was arrested by officers from the Zhongguancun Police Station. She was first held at the Haidian District Detention Center, then given a 2.5-year term at the Tiantanghe Forced Labor Camp. This was the third forced labor camp term she was given (details of her first two terms are unknown). The guards held her in solitary confinement and didn’t allow her to take showers or buy food. She became emaciated with a hunchback as a result of the torture.

Ms. Wang was arrested three more times by officers from the Hebei Town Police Station, on March 11, 2017, May 3, 2019, and March 8, 2020. She was sentenced to three years following the 2020 arrest.
