Additional Persecution News from China – June 1, 2025 (7 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 3 provinces, where at least 12 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Appeals Court Heard Mr. Yang Jiangwei’s Case

1. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Appeals Court Heard Mr. Yang Jiangwei’s Case

Mr. Yang Jiangwei was sentenced to 14 months in prison by the Lianshan District Court on February 5, 2025. Prosecutors Du Yang and Zhang Xiaojin of the Lianshan District Procuratorate filed a protest with the Huludao City Intermediate Court on February 13, 2025, stating that “the Lianshan District Court made mistakes in evaluating the facts, and improperly applied the law, resulting in an unusually light sentence for Yang Jiangwei.” The appeals court held a hearing of the case at the Suizhong County Detention Center on May 30, 2025. Another session was scheduled for June 5.

2. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zheng Quanyou Arrested

Mr. Zheng Quanyou from Dongfeng Community, Xiuyan Town, Xiuyan Manchu Autonomous County, was arrested on the morning of May 30, 2025. His daughter’s home was ransacked. Mr. Zheng was released later that day.

3. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wen Guoxiang Harassed

Ms. Wen Guoxiang was harassed at home by officers including Liu Chun from the Xiadian Police Station in late April 2025. The police ransacked her home and took video and photos of her. They also forced her son to take her to the police station to sign case documents.

Ms. Wen was harassed at home again on May 13, 2025, and was ordered to sign the deposition related her arrest years prior, which she refused.

4. [Tianjin] Ms. Li Junmin Arrested

Ms. Li Junmin, a native of Botou City, Hebei Province, was arrested on May 30, 2025, for talking to people about Falun Gong at a residential community in Tianjin.

5. [Tianjin] Two Practitioners Arrested

Practitioner Hou, from Beizhakou, Jinnan District< was reading Falun Gong book at home with another practitioner, when more than ten police officers broke in on May 12, 2025. Hou was not taken away because his or her legs were unable to move. The other practitioner was arrested but released later that day.

Practitioner Liu, from Beizhakou, Jinnan District, was also arrested at home on May 13, 2025. Liu was detained for ten days.

6. [Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Four practitioners in their 70s, including Ms. Wu Chunmei, Ms. Yao Hezhen, Ms. Jiang Qilan, and Mr. Liu Jinming, were arrested at Ms. Wu’s home by officers from the Bayi Police Station and Anyuan District Police Department on February 24, 2025. They were all released after a day of interrogation.

7. [Shanghai] Ms. Wang Chunyan Arrested

Ms. Wang Chunyan from Pudong New District was arrested on May 30, 2025.
