An 83-year-old Shulan City, Jilin Province resident passed away on April 19, 2024, after enduring years of persecution for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Over the past few years, Ms. Liu Shuqin was frequently harassed by officers from the Qili Village Police Station. She was under tremendous mental pressure and her blood pressure was elevated as a result.

During an episode of harassment on the evening on May 11, 2021, nine officers led by Han Dong descended on Ms. Liu’s home in three police cars. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and other materials with information about Falun Gong. The police attempted to arrest Ms. Liu, but were stopped by her family.

Ms. Liu’s health steadily deteriorated afterward. She suffered a stroke and died on April 19, 2024.
