Additional Persecution News from China – May 16, 2025 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 28 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Fusong County, Jilin Province] Ms. Yuan Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Yuan, first name unknown, from Lushuihe Town was arrested on April 20, 2025, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. She has been sentenced to one year in prison, but details about her sentencing aren’t clear.

2. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Zhengxun’s Trial Scheduled

Mr. Li Zhangxun was scheduled to stand trial in the Pudong Detention Center at 9 a.m. on May 21, 2025.

3. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Rongling Faces Trial

Ms. Li Rongling’s case was submitted to the Fushan District Court on May 15, 2025. She is now facing trial.

4. [Chibi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhu Xueying Arrested

Ms. Zhu Xueying was arrested and her home ransacked by Ding Aimin, head of Chibi City Domestic Security Division, and others on May 15, 2025. The officers threatened to detain Ms. Zhu for a month and ordered her family to sign paperwork, which they refused to do. Ms. Zhu’s whereabouts are currently unknown.

5. [Meishan City, Sichuan Province] Eleven Practitioners Arrested

Nine practitioners were arrested at Ms. Wan Wu’s home on the morning of May 13, 2025, by officers from the Meishan City Police Department, Meishan City Domestic Security Division, and Dongpo District Police Department.

The nine practitioners are: Ms. Wan Wu, Ms. Li Manyu, Ms. Ma Qiufang, Ms. Wang Xuezhen, Ms. Yang Yufang, Ms. Guo Yurong, Ms. Guo’s mother, Ms. Wang Fang, and Liao (first name unknown). All their homes were ransacked, and their Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated.

Ms. Wan’s computer was confiscated, and she is being held in a detention center. Ms. Li’s computer and printer were confiscated. Her current situation is unknown.

Ms. Wang has been released. When Ms. Guo refused to submit to the physical exam, six officers pushed her down on the ground. They hit her back with metal implements and held her in custody for a day. She has been released. Her mother was released on May 13.

The situations of the other practitioners are unclear.

Two other practitioners, Ms. Zhou Xueqin and her daughter Ms. Xu Dan, were also arrested at home on May 13. They have now been released.

6. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Scheduled to Appear in Court a Fourth Time

Ms. Wang Fan, her husband Mr. Du Jianxin, and Mr. Fu Jian were arrested by officers from the Binnan Domestic Security Division on November 29, 2023. They were scheduled to appear in Dongying District Court for a fourth time on May 19, 2025.

7. [Zunyi City, Guizhou Province] Practitioner Wang Yinxian Arrested

Wang Yinxian (gender unknown) was arrested around mid-May 2025.

8. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Yang Jiangwei Faces Trial

Mr. Yang Jiangwei was scheduled to stand trial in the Suizhong County Court at 9:30 a.m. on May 22, 2025.

9. [Beijing] Ms. Xing Guiling and Ms. Wang Yuhong Monitored

Ms. Xing Guiling’s home in Dagao Village in the Tongzhou District was monitored by the authorities from April 22 to 25, 2025.

Ms. Wang Yuhong’s home in the Shuangjing Sub-district, Chaoyang District, was monitored from April 20 to 28, 2025.

10. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Pu Yuxian Harassed

Ms. Pu Yuxian was arrested at home on the morning of April 21, 2025, by three plainclothes officers from Xihu District Police Department. The police broke into her home and took her to the police department for interrogation. She was released that afternoon but was taken to the Qili Police Station at 7 p.m. on April 29 for another interrogation session.

11. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhou Yuyi’s Home Ransacked

Four police officers from Qingyuan County broke into Mr. Zhou Yuyi’s home in Zhongzhai Town on April 23, 2025. They ransacked it and confiscated three Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and printed materials.

12. [Xiaogan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhu Lianxiu Detained

Ms. Zhu Lianxiu from Gancheng the District was arrested on April 28, 2025, by officers from the Yunmeng County Domestic Security Division. She was taken to the Shuyuan Police Station, where officers handcuffed her to a metal chair and interrogated her. She was then admitted to Xiaogan City Detention Center for 15 days. The police confiscated over 50 Falun Gong books, a laptop computer, two audio players, and printed materials from her home.

13. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Chen Lidong and Her Husband Mr. Chen Zhen Arrested

Ms. Chen Lidong and her husband Mr. Chen Zhen from Dalang Town in the Longhua District were arrested in late April 2025. Their home was ransacked. They were released on bail after four days of detention.

14. [Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Hu Zihua Admitted to Prison to Serve a Two-Year Term

Mr. Hu Zihua, 60, was sentenced to two years and fined 10,000 yuan by the Xiangzhou District Court in late 2024. He appealed with the Zhuhai City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold his original verdict. He was admitted to Shaoguan Prison on April 10, 2025.

A tumor was discovered in Mr. Hu’s abdomen before his hearing on December 10, 2024. His family asked that he be released on bail for medical reasons, but their request was denied. He was taken back to the local detention center after the hearing. The presiding judge said that no decision or sentence had been decided, as everything regarding Falun Gong had to be determined by the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, an extra-legal agency tasked with overseeing the persecution.
