Additional Persecution News from China – April 21, 2024 (12 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 26 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Daan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Qu Wenbin Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison

Mr. Qu Wenbin, around 53, was arrested in early July 2024. The Jilin Province 610 Office had monitored his cell phone activity, and ordered Daan Domestic Security Division officers to arrest him. He was sentenced to an 18-month prison term at an unknown time and has since been admitted to Jilin Prison.

Mr. Qu used to work for the Daan City Hydraulic Parts Factory before it went bankrupt. He made a living by doing odd jobs thereafter. He and his wife have two daughters.

2. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Ms. Lian Minqin Sentenced

Ms. Lian Minqing, a retired teacher from Shengli Oil Field, was tried by the Dongying District Court on the morning of April 17, 2025. She was sentenced to four months in prison, with six months probation and a 1,000-yuan fine.

3. [Yitong County, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Zhu Faces Indictment

Mr. Liu Zhu, 60, living in Majiatun, Dagushan Town, was arrested by officer Fan Liming and others from the Yushu City Domestic Security Division on March 3, 2025. He is being held in the Yushu City Detention Center. The police have submitted his case to the procuratorate.

4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Liu Zuolan Detained

Liu Zuolan, gender unknown, of Yuantai Town, Wafangdian City, was arrested on his or her way to Dalian City on April 16, 2025, after an officer searched Liu’s bag in the railway station and found a copy of Zhuan Falun. The police ransacked Liu’s home and found another copy of Zhuan Falun. Liu is being held in Dalian City.

5. [Fuxin City, Liaoning Province] Chang Xiuhua Detained

Chang Xiuhua, gender unknown, was arrested by Xinxing Police Station officers on the evening of April 19, 2025. Chang is being held in the Chengnan Detention Center.

6. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Sun Daifang Held in Ankang Hospital

Mr. Sun Daifang, about 77, was under police surveillance after someone reported him for distributing Falun Gong flyers in July 2024. The police ransacked his home. The local court scheduled a hearing of his case for November 2024, but later canceled it. He was taken to Ankang Hospital, a psychiatric hospital, before the 2025 New Year. His family isn’t allowed to visit him.

7. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Dong Chunling Released on Bail

Ms. Dong Chunling was arrested by officers from the Dongguan Police Station on the morning of April 18, 2025, after someone reported her for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Xiaoyingfang Village. She was released on a one-year bail.

8. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Additional Information on Five Practitioners’ Arrests

Ms. Chen Ying, Ms. Gu Lili, Ms. Pang Shuyue, Chunxiang (last name unknown), and another practitioner whose name wasn’t known, were arrested at Ms. Chen’s home by Yufengli Police Station officers on the afternoon of April 17, 2025, while they were studying Falun Gong teachings. One of them was taken to the police hospital for a medical condition. The other four practitioners’ situations aren’t clear.

9. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xing Lijuan Detained

Ms. Xing Lijuan, 57, living in Lianshan District, was arrested on April 17, 2025. She is being held in the Huludao City Lockup.

10. [Beijing] Mr. Zhu Guangjun Detained

Mr. Zhu Guangjun, of Guojiawu Town, Shunyi District, was arrested by officers from the Yangzhen Police Station on April 11, 2025, and his home was ransacked. He is being held in the Shunyi District Detention Center for 13 days.

11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Tang Changjie Arrested

Mr. Tang Changjie of Wuchang District was arrested at home on the morning of April 16, 2025.

12. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Shuqin Interrogated

Ms. Li Shuqin was arrested in July 2024 during a police sweep, and released on bail. Officers from the Tukouzi Village Police Station took her back to the police station in late March 2025 for an interrogation. They questioned her about whether she visited overseas websites, whether she had contacts with other practitioners, and whether she distributed Falun Gong flyers. She refused to cooperate, and condemned the police for persecuting her. She was released after being forced to sign the interrogation record.
