90-Year-Old Mountain Village Resident Hopes to Meet Master Li

(Minghui.org) Just before the Chinese New Year, my daughter and I visited a remote mountain village where we saw an old man sunning himself by his gate. We greeted him and discovered this 90-year-old man still had good hearing, eyesight, and mental faculties, so we seized the chance to clarify the truth about Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) to him.

We told the elderly man that Falun Gong is a Buddhist cultivation way that teaches practitioners to be good people by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Jiang Zemin, the former leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), cruelly suppressed the practice out of jealousy and fabricated the “Tiananmen Self-Immolation” incident to frame Falun Gong. Over the last 26 years, government officials tortured and harvested organs from living practitioners to sell them for profit. Public funds were diverted to fund the persecution of good people, leaving the national treasury empty and the corrupt CCP officials rich. Many evil officials who participated in the initial persecution of Falun Gong received retribution. Many were imprisoned, suffered misfortunes, or died from car accidents or diseases. Yet there are people who remain ignorant of the truth and continue to work for the CCP for power and money.

At this point, unable to hold back his inner grief and anger, the old man told us about the persecution he had witnessed and experienced under the CCP’s rule. The CCP persecuted the rich and educated, had cracked down on college students, and now Falun Dafa practitioners. CCP officials were corrupt, society’s morals had fallen, citizens were living a life of misery, and the country was on the brink of falling apart. “The CCP’s days are numbered, and only Falun Dafa can save the Chinese people!” My daughter and I then realized the old man was an educated, knowledgeable elder who chose to live in seclusion at this remote village.

The old man told us, “I heard about the movement to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party, Youth League and Young Pioneers years ago. Everyone in our family has already withdrawn.” When I asked him, “Who assisted you with the withdrawal?” he replied, “At that time, we couldn’t find any Falun Dafa practitioners. We wrote our names down on a piece of paper and posted them on the electric poles. After all, gods are everywhere and can vouch for our sincerity!” We were very moved and felt guilty about not visiting this region earlier.

The old man told us how he rescued a persecuted Falun Dafa practitioner more than 20 years ago. This occurred during the early days of the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, when widespread suppression of Falun Gong practitioners was truly enforced. A very famous local teacher was kidnapped by the local police station because he refused to renounce his practice of Falun Gong. When the old man heard about this, he was very angry. He repeatedly petitioned the police station for the teacher’s release, describing the teacher’s noble, upright, and kind character, and asked what crime the teacher had committed by practicing Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance? He personally visited the police station, questioning their basis for detaining such a good person, and demanded they release the teacher immediately. The old man even signed two letters that let him act as guarantor for the teacher. He continued his efforts until the police finally released the teacher.

The old man’s act of kindness moved us to tears and triggered the memory of an encounter I had years ago. During the early years of the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, fellow practitioners and I visited a large, remote village to clarify the truth behind the persecution and persuade the villagers to quit the CCP. Yet during our travels, we kept encountering villagers who told us they had already quit the CCP. According to them, a teacher had persuaded them to quit. We heard the same story when we visited other villages nearby. The atmosphere throughout the area was particularly peaceful. The villagers did not oppose Falun Dafa and willingly accepted our truth-clarification materials. Despite admiring this teacher, who was likely also a fellow practitioner, we decided not to visit her for safety reasons.

My daughter and I brought our hands together and thanked the old man for saving this Falun Dafa practitioner and for speaking out against the unjust persecution. He would have earned substantial merit for this good deed, guaranteeing a bright future for himself, his family, and his descendants!

The old man kindly told us, “These truth-clarification materials that you have made over the years are not easy to produce. My wife and I appreciate and read every one.” He then turned to my daughter, “Child, if your travels take you past our door, remember to come in, drink some water, and take some rest. The work you do is not easy after all!”

When my daughter wished him good health, the old man confidently replied, “My health remains good, and my mind remains clear. I want to live a few more years. When your Master returns to China, I want to convey my well wishes and gratitude to Master Li in person!”
