Driving for the First Time at the Age of 80

(Minghui.org) I think it’s not accidental that electric cars have appeared in society. If I bought one, it would be much more convenient for me to go places. I think my children are doing well, and each of them has a car. Now, only their father doesn’t have one. It would be no issue for them to pool their money together to buy one for me.

I thought about this when I was sitting at home alone, but when I asked my children about it, I didn’t expect their response—none of my six children supported me. My second son said: “Dad, you will be 80 in two years, and you still want to buy a car. We would thank God if you could cause less trouble for us!”

As soon as he finished speaking, my third daughter continued: “Dad, you should practice your [Falun Dafa] exercises well. Your only task now is to eat well, sleep well, and have fun!”

My second daughter chimed in: “You often say that you practice the exercises alone, and our whole family benefits from you. Please don’t be careless, okay?”

I responded, “Your dad is not deaf, my eyes are not blurry, my hands and feet are flexible, and I meet all the requirements to drive.”

“That won’t work! You’re too old!” said my third son.

My eldest son and my eldest daughter didn’t say anything at first, but their expression showed that they did not support me. My eldest son said, “We’re all responsible for you.”

“I can be responsible for myself,” I replied. “I can’t agree with you on this matter.” After I said that, my eldest son was the first to leave.

My eldest daughter told me that I should go to bed early, as they were all going home. I definitely couldn’t count on my children to buy me a car. So I saved up the living expenses they gave me, and tried to spend as little as possible. After a few years, I added up the money I saved and found that I was only a little short of buying a car. I borrowed some from my relatives and friends, and finally got enough money to buy the electric car I wanted!

Of course, the reason why my children didn’t want to buy me a car was because they worried about me. So I had to ensure absolute safety while driving, and I have done that.

My home is 20 kilometers (12 miles) away from the city. I would go to a practitioner’s home there every two weeks and ask him to download Minghui articles on my MP3 player for me to listen to. I then install the files for local practitioners after returning home. Because the practitioners live in different places, it is more convenient for me to go in a car.

People were amazed and praised me when they saw that I could still drive at over 80 years of age. I am the first person in our villlage that is driving at such an age. Someone came up to me and said: “If it weren’t for your Master protecting you, would you be in such good health?!” He was absolutely right. I’m 84 years old. If I hadn’t practiced Falun Dafa and without Master’s protection, how could this be possible?

Falun Dafa cultivation is extraordinary. I needed reading glasses when I was in my 40s. But after I started practicing Dafa in my 50s, I felt uncomfortable wearing the reading glasses. And when I took them off, I was able to read the books more clearly.

I went to Tiananmen Square to validate the Fa for the third time, and was arrested and sentenced to prison. When I came back, I couldn’t read books without needing glasses again. Not long after I resumed practicing, however, I didn’t need the glasses anymore. My hearing and vision are good, and all the organs in my body are healthy.

Although I’m 84 years old, there are only a few people the same age in my village who are still alive. But my health is no worse than when I was 50 or 60 years old. I’m in excellent health, and everyone says I look much younger than my age.
