An Episode in Clarifying the Truth and Cultivating Xinxing

(Minghui.org) I am writing down an episode in my clarifying the truth and cultivating xinxing, to share with fellow practitioners. Kindly correct me if there is any room for improvement.

A worker came to repair my house one day in July 2024. I thought that this was an opportunity, so I wanted to tell him about Falun Gong and the persecution. If he accepted what I said and was willing to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations, he could be saved.

He sweat so profusely due to the hot weather that his uniform was drenched. I bought some mineral water for him. At lunch and dinner time, I also invited him to a restaurant to have a meal. In between mealtimes I also showed my concern for him, finding opportunities to talk to him to create a more comfortable rapport between us.

I was not required to worry about his meals or drinks, I was only responsible for paying him for the job. However, seeing all these people who are living at the bottom stratum of China’s society, working so hard to make a living in this hot weather, I could not help but feel pity for him, and my wish to save him grew even stronger. While he was working, I would go into the study room to send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate all the evil beings and elements that might be obstructing and disturbing him from understanding the truth. I also asked for Master’s empowerment.

This person gave me the feeling that he was easy-going, and I felt that it should be easy to talk to him. I thought that he may be willing to listen to the truth and quit the CCP. When he stopped for a rest, I thought that the right opportunity had come, so I said, “There are so many natural and man-made disasters nowadays, so it is most important for us, common folks, to maintain our safety and peace. Can I tell you a method to obtain peace and safety? That is to quit the CCP. Quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations that you joined so that you can obtain protection from the divine. Did you join the CCP and its affiliated youth organizations before? Let me help you quit them with a alias so that you will be safe from disasters.”

He said, “I do not believe in anything. I am okay as long as I can earn more money. If I am meant to die when a disaster comes, I will die!” Hearing him say that, my heart sank!

I said, “Have you heard of Falun Dafa? It teaches people to be good in accordance with the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. It has miraculous effects in getting rid of illnesses and keeping people healthy. There are currently Falun Dafa practitioners in more than 100 countries. Only the CCP persecutes Falun Dafa.”

He interrupted me and said, “I heard about Falun Dafa long ago. Many years ago when I was working outside, someone handed me a few books and asked me to read them. However, I did not read them and returned them to him. I do not believe in anything. I do not harm others and will just be a good person. I just want to earn more money, and I don’t care about other issues.”

After saying that, he took his toolbox and went back to work. Nevertheless, I followed behind him and said, “No matter what, you need to know that Falun Dafa is good. It is not like what the CCP said. Please also remember, ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.’ You will obtain positive returns.” He did not respond.

I was a bit disappointed as he did not understand the truth and did not quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. It was such a pity!

The next day, another worker came. I thought, “Should I tell this person?” This person gave me a vulgar feeling. He looked a bit fierce and did not seem easy to speak to. I did not feel good about him. If I talked to him, I was worried that I might be rejected again. The disappointment from the day before had made me lose faith in clarifying the truth to him. While I was in this turmoil, I thought, “I am a cultivator. I should not look at the problem based on human notions. All the more, I should not judge a person based on the CCP culture’s mindset. Didn’t he come to my house to hear the truth? Maybe Master arranged for him to come to be saved. Saving people is my responsibility. If he deserves to be saved, Master will save him.” Therefore, after more righteous thoughts, an opportunity came. I repeated what I had said to the worker the previous day.

Not only did this person agree very much with me, he even agreed to quit the Young Pioneers and the Communist Youth League that he had joined in his youth. He told me about the corrupt and degenerate behavior of his village’s CCP officials that he had seen and experienced. I told him to remember “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” and frequently recite these golden words sincerely in his heart, as that would help him avert disasters, maintain peace and safety, and bring him positive rewards. I was delightful that he had the righteous mind to be saved.

Why did the same treatment toward different people end up with different results? What problems of mine caused such a difference? After these two workers left, I thought about this problem for many days. Through studying the Fa and looking deep within myself, I discovered that the first reason was that I had discriminated against people. I looked at people based on human notions and judged them by their looks. I did not realize that the one who is saving people is Master and Dafa. The results definitely will not be good when I clarify the truth with human notions. The second reason is that I did not study the Fa deeply enough and I did not have enough compassion. I lacked benevolence, so the words that I spoke lacked the power of Dafa, thus they were not able to save people. The third reason is that the prolonged brainwashing and lies from the CCP had made me believe in the non-existence of divine beings, such that I only placed importance on immediate benefits.

As I looked within, I also discovered that my motive for clarifying the truth to them also consisted of the attachment to completing my mission. I was worried that if I did not clarify the truth, I would not be able to attain the goal of cultivation and I would be left behind. I lacked the feeling of fulfilling our mission to assist Master in Fa-rectification. I am selfish and self-centered. How could I save people with such an impure heart? At the same time, I also found that I had all sorts of attachments, such as the attachment to complaints and hatred (I complained when he did not listen to my truth-clarification, when things did not follow my notions, when matters stirred my soul), jealousy, and laziness, among other attachments. I told myself, “These attachments are not me. I do not want them and I want to get rid of them all.”
