(Minghui.org) Four Falun Gong practitioners in Jieyang City, Guangdong Province were arrested on January 21, 2025 and three of them are still detained at the time of writing.
Ms. Jiang Biyin, 83, Ms. Lin Suzhen, Ms. Jiang Xi’e, and a fourth woman with a given name of Liying (last name unknown) were arrested around 3 p.m. on January 21, 2025, while studying Falun Gong teachings at Ms. Lin’s home. The police broke in and took the practitioners to their respective homes for a raid. Ms. Lin’s Falun Gong books were confiscated. The police didn’t find any Falun Gong related materials at Ms. Jiang Biyin and Ms. Jiang Xi’e’s homes.
An insider revealed that Liying was recorded by street cameras while putting up posters about Falun Gong. The police followed her for a few days, before arresting her and other practitioners at Ms. Lin’s home.
All four practitioners were taken to the Jieyang City Detention Center. Except for Ms. Jiang Xi’e who was released 15 days later, the other three practitioners remain detained to this day.
Ms. Jiang Biyin’s arrest came about one year after she finished serving a six-month prison term. She was previously arrested on June 14, 2020 while studying Falun Gong books with eight other practitioners. She was released on bail the next day and sentenced to six months by the Jiedong District Court in November 2022. The police took her back into custody at the Jiedong District Detention Center on June 13, 2023 to serve time.
The other eight practitioners arrested with Ms. Jiang in June 2020 were also sentenced to prison, with the longest term being nine years. One of them, Ms. Yao Jingjiao, was taken to the Jiedong District Detention Center on May 5, 2023 to serve a three-year term. She was transferred to the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison in early July 2023 and released in serious condition on October 24, 2024. She died a month later on November 20. She was 84.
