(Minghui.org) The Gongzhuling Prison in Jilin Province established a “strict management training team” in June 2025 aimed to force jailed Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their faith.
All practitioners incarcerated in the prison are forced to read, watch, and listen to programs defaming Falun Gong. They must also write “thought reports” every month. Those who refuse to denounce Falun Gong in their thought reports are given “talks.” If they still hold firm to their faith, they are sent to the “training team” for intensified persecution.
About 12 practitioners are currently held in the “training team,” including Mr. Shi Wenzhuo (who is serving a 6-year term), Mr. Wu Dexiu, Mr. Zhu Guiyan, and Mr. Kang Wancai. The latter three’s prison terms are unknown.
All of the practitioners are barred from purchasing daily necessities or extra food. They are also denied in-person family visits or any other form of communication with their loved ones. Some have been in the “training team” since its establishment so they haven’t been able to see or talk to their families for six months.
The training team requires the practitioners to get up at 5 a.m. every day. They are given only a few minutes to brush their teeth and wash their face. The restroom breaks are also very brief and take place at designated times. After the morning routine, the practitioners are ordered to sit on a small stool all day long to “study” propaganda smearing Falun Gong. They can only get up at mealtimes, for restroom breaks, and for lectures delivered by so-called “experts.”
Persecution of Mr. Kang
Mr. Kang, in his 70s, was arrested at his daughter’s home on March 1, 2023 by Xinlicheng Police Station officers. Prior to the arrest, the police raided his daughter’s home and confiscated several Falun Gong books. Details of Mr. Kang’s indictment and sentencing remain to be investigated.
Mr. Kang refused to write statements to renounce his faith and was subjected to intimidation, electric shocks, and beatings. At one point he was forced to sleep on a bare bedboard without mattress or bedding. The guards once poured ice cubes into his clothes to freeze him.
As he remained firm in his faith, Mr. Kang was eventually placed in the “training team.” According to insiders, he is not in good health. He is emaciated and has a persistent, rattling cough.
